Tom Cruise has become well-known for performing over-the-top stunts in Mission Impossible films, from hanging off the side of an airplane to scaling the side of the 123-story Burj Khalifa in Dubai. While the next two Mission Impossible films have been delayed on account of the coronavirus pandemic, the actor is apparently in talks with Elon Musk's SpaceX and NASA to perform a scene in space for a different project.

There are no specific details as far as what the project would be or who would be developing it according to the exclusive story from Deadline, but it is "in the early stages of liftoff." At this point there's no telling when more details might come out, especially as studios like Lionsgate also continue to delay movies like John Wick 4 and Saw: From the Book of Spiral.

Some movies have drawn widespread attention for having as close to accurate depictions of being in space as possible, like Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity (2013). However no film has actually been recorded off Earth, and it would be especially impressive to see in an action-adventure context.
