Tom Cruise teases Mission Impossible - Dead Reckoning with dangerous and intense stunts, which he is known for doing himself and would otherwise require a stunt double. However, that is not Tom Cruise’s style.Earlier today, Tom Cruise thanked fans for coming out to the theater to see Top Gun: Maverick, although it wouldn’t be a proper thank you without the actor jumping out of a plane. This had taken place during the filming of the new Mission Impossible film, and was only a tease of what was to come, as Tom Cruise now reveals his “most dangerous” stunt yet for Mission Impossible - Dead Reckoning.RELATED: Mission: Impossible Editor Says Stunts Will Be 'Historic'Tom Cruise posted a video to Twitter that showcases a behind-the-scenes look at Mission Impossible - Dead Reckoning. As shown in the video, the movie was shot in Norway, and has been filming since 2020. The stunt in question involves Tom Cruise jumping a motorcycle off a cliff and into a base jump, which he describes as having wanted to do since he was a kid. Cruise states the audience as the reason behind his bravery, and director Christopher McQuarrie adds that the stunt was logistically put together by Cruise through utilizing experts in each of the major disciplines required to pull it off.

The stunt was said to have taken a year to plan in regard to tracking, motocross training that involved 13000 jumps, base training and 500 skydives. Christopher McQuarrie recounts the challenges involved with a stunt of this caliber, and detailed how to best capture it on film through the use of a particular lens and where to place the cameras. Despite Tom Cruise's critics, it would be hard for anyone to deny the commitment and dedication needed to do their own stunts of this nature.

Perhaps what is most thrilling is how Tom Cruise describes the necessity to hit a certain speed needed to pull off the stunt, but that there was no speedometer, so the actor needed to base it off the feeling of the bike and the wind against his body when jumping. From the thrilling behind-the-scenes featurette alone, this may already be considered the greatest Tom Cruise stunt yet.

The behind-the-scenes video also takes time to detail the incredible film crew that was needed in order to pull this feat off; from the engineers to the set designers and experts on the film, none of it would be possible without those masters at work. The featurette ends with a series of scenes that hints at what’s to come in the latest Mission Impossible with even a tease of Mission Impossible 8.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is scheduled to release in theaters on July 14, 2023.
