Following in its footsteps of moving its popular titles to mobile, Ubisoft officially announced the mobile port for The Division. Tom Clancy's The Division Resurgence will be coming to mobile devices soon.

The mobile gaming market has seen a consistent rise in its economy with popular titles like Fortnite, Apex Legends and the recently released Diablo Immortal dominating mobile platforms. With Ubisoft taking note of the popularity of mobile gaming, expect a lot of Ubisoft titles to head to mobile devices very soon. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege was Ubisoft's first title to make the announcement of a mobile port while there are also rumors of Assassin's Creed getting its own mobile port in the future.

The announcement brought an official reveal trailer detailing what players can expect, revisiting a few familiar locales and highlighting the newest threat to challenge the peace. Boasting a new chapter in the Division saga, players will take the role of the first wave of Strategic Homeland Division agents and experience unique events that take place prior to the events of The Division and The Division 2. A release date hasn't been announced yet besides that it will be coming soon, but players interested in this mobile experience can sign up for a chance to participate in the closed alpha through the game's official website.

The mobile market is dominated by plenty of FPS titles such as Apex Legends and Call of Duty Mobile, with an incoming Call of Duty: Warzone port in the works to further the genre's grasp on the mobile market. That being said, porting The Division is a perfect way to open up the market as it's unique third-person RPG experience might encourage more than your standard FPS titles to make an appearance on mobile.

Despite being hyped up to be a "Destiny killer", The Division has etched its own unique niche in the massively open-world RPG genre. The Division 2 manages to maintain a stable player base for a title that launched three years ago and has at times has struggled with keeping up with content demands. With the announcement of The Division Resurgence, the reception seems to be positive as it'll provide the same great core gameplay loop the console ports have while delivering unique modes to spice up the formula.

With that being said, there is plenty of skepticism surrounding this title. Given it's a free-to-play title produced by Ubisoft, some fans are fearful of the game's potential monetization scheme. The "success" of Diablo Immortal has scarred many gamers, and based off of The Division's gameplay, a similar over-monetization seems almost inevitable.

The Division Resurgence is coming soon to Android and iOS.
