Takemichi Hanagaki

The Crybaby Protagonist

Tokyo Revengers Takemichi Hanagaki

The story's main protagonist, Takemichi, has the eerie ability to jump through time. The audience first meets Takemichi in a rather pitiful state; poor Takemichi finds himself at a dead-end with many regrets about how he chose to live his life as a teen.

It is after he discovers his ability to travel back to the past (and also return to the present) that he realizes he can actually change the circumstances of the present. Takemichi is a character of many regrets, and although he may find himself at his limits or wanting to run away, he always preserves to help others.

Hinata Tachibana

The High School Sweetheart

Tokyo Revengers Hinata Tachibana

Hinata may serve as Takemichi's love interest for the series, but that's not her only role throughout the series. Hinata is a kind person who always reassures Takemichi when he is uncertain of his own self-worth. In addition to being the struggling protagonist's support, Hinata also acts as the initial catalyst for the entire first arc of the series.

Hinata's kindness and warm personality were the whole reason Takemichi decided to continue returning to the past in a dangerous attempt to save her from her untimely death.

Naoto Tachibana

The Capable Detective

Tokyo Revengers Naoto Tachibana

Naoto is Hinata's younger brother. While his younger self isn't seen much, present-day Naoto is Takemichi's partner in his journey to change the past. Present-day Naoto works for an organized crime department in Tokyo and utilizes his experience in the field to help Takemichi understand what steps he must take in order to save Hinata.

While Naoto remains a very professional individual with little to no tolerance for nonsense, he still seems to be open-minded to outlandish concepts as he simply accepts Takemichi's ability to travel in time.

Manjiro Sano (Mikey)

The Unstoppable Force

Tokyo Revengers Manjiro Sano (Mikey)

Manjiro (more commonly referred to as Mikey) is a founding member and leader of the Tokyo Manji Gang (Toman). While he may be one of the shorter members of the gang, Mikey's abilities as a fighter keep him in high rankings. Mikey may be a deadly threat when in combat but still has an incredibly childish and carefree side to himself as well.

Mikey is often burdened by keeping any signs of weaknesses or doubt to himself as he wants to keep fellow Toman members confident and unafraid of any opposition.

Ken Ryuguji (Draken)

The Right-Hand Man

Tokyo Revengers Ken Ryuguji (Draken)

Draken is the vice president and a founding member of Toman. Draken, alongside Mikey, is often looked up to as the main source of authority within Toman. While Draken can be rude at times, he still has lots of respect for those whom he calls friends and does not wish for innocent people to be involved in any violent activity related to Toman.

Plenty of anime are built on the friendships between their main protagonists, and these characters show just how powerful these relationships can be.

Draken's softer side often comes out when he is left to care for Mikey. Draken may be an aggressive fighter but his loyalty to those he holds dear to him takes priority.

Keisuke Baji

The Sacrificial Lamb

Tokyo Revengers Keisuke Baji

Baji was the First Division Captain of Toman and also one of the original founding members. Baji was a childhood friend of Draken and Mikey's and is very loyal to them. Baji is also incredibly close to his childhood friend, Kazutora.

Baji is one of the most volatile members of Toman and has been known to start fights or punch someone out on a simple whim. However, Baji is also incredibly loyal and is willing to let others see him as a traitor just to help Toman persevere.

Takashi Mitsuya

The Mild-Mannered Delinquent

Tokyo Revengers Takashi Mitsuya

Mitsuya is the Second Division Captain of Toman as well as one of the founding members. Mitsuya is a soft-spoken person and is one of the most level-headed members of Toman, only resorting to physical combat when absolutely necessary. MItsuya is a kind person and while he prefers not to fight, he is very willing to in the name of defending his friends.

Mitsuya also has shown an interest in sewing as he is the president of his school's sewing club.

Haruki Hayashi (Pah-Chin)

The Unpredictable Hothead

Tokyo Revengers Haruki Hayashida Pah Chin

Pah-Chin is yet another founding member of Toman and is also the former Third Division Captain. While not the brightest member of the gang, Pah-Chin knows that loyalty is an invaluable part of a family.

Pah-Chin may be incredibly aggressive but his heart is in the right place. Pah-Chin may get worked up over trivial things from time to time but his true aggression only comes out at times when he feels he must defend a good friend of his.

Ryohei Hayashi (Peyan)

The Stubborn Avenger

Tokyo Revengers Ryohei Hayashi (Peyan)

Peyan is Pah-Chin's best bud and also the Third Division Vice-Captain of Toman. Much like his friend, Pah-Chin, Peyan is very short-tempered. Also similar to how Pah-Chin made sure to avenge his friends, Peyan did the same when he felt that Pah-Chin was wronged.

Peyan's sense of loyalty is so strong it almost acts as a fault of his as his wish to avenge Pah-Chin drove him to seek the help of others, leading him to almost betray Toman altogether.

Nahoya Kawata (Smiley)

The Unhinged Beast

Tokyo Revengers Nahoya Kawata (Smiley)

Smiley is the Fourth Division Captain of Toman. Smiley is particularly unique in that he enjoys and lavishes in a good fight with a bright expression on his face. Smiley is often seen with a grin on his face as his nickname would imply and seems to take pleasure in beating his opponents to a pulp.

Much like many other Toman members, Smiley has a fierce loyalty to Mikey and is ready to fight at any moment he thinks someone is disrespecting his leader.

Yasuhiro Muto (Mucho)

The Silent But Deadly

Tokyo Revengers Yasuhiro Muto (Mucho)

Mucho was the Fifth Division Captain of Toman. Mucho is a rather calm individual and is not very expressive. Mucho doesn't seem to shift from his often stoic expression, even when he is in the heat of a dangerous battle.

On top of this, Mucho is very quiet and doesn't seem to speak his mind very often as well. Much like many of the other Toman members, Mucho has a strong sense of loyalty towards the leader, Mikey.

Masataka Kiyomizu (Kiyomasa)

The Fallen King

Tokyo Revengers Masataka Kiyomizu (Kiyomasa)

Kiyomasa is a minor antagonist and a former member of Toman. Kiyomasa is a cruel person who enjoys beating, humiliating, and torturing those he deems weaker or below him. Kiyomasa is also a very arrogant individual and enjoys taking his status and level of authority to lengths that are farther than they should reach.

Kiyomasa is a person who also cannot allow their pride to be hurt as he is very vengeful throughout the series as well.

Atsushi Sendo (Akkun)

The Loyal Best Friend

Tokyo Revengers Atsushi Sendo (Akkun)

Akkun is one of Takemichi's childhood friends. Akkun, while still the leader of Takemichi's group of delinquent friends, is still a very kind and caring person. He has shown on multiple occasions that he is more than willing to sacrifice his own well-being in order to save those that he cares about.

Even knowing that he cannot take on an opponent, Akkun does not hesitate to jump in and intervene if it means saving a friend.

Takuya Yamamoto

The Reluctant Delinquent

Tokyo Revengers Takuya Yamamoto

Takuya is one of Takemichi's middle school friends. While he is still close with Takemichi and their delinquent friend group, he is often seen as one of the more timid ones; always uncertain of a plan that includes fighting.

Takuya is often stated by others to be the worst fighter in the group and needs saving from time to time. However, Takuya is still a very loyal friend and will still be willing to fight if it's for the sake of helping a friend.

Makoto Suzuki

All Bark & No Bite

Tokyo Revengers Makoto Suzuki

Makoto is another friend seen in Takemichi's past as a delinquent in middle school. Much like the other members of Takemichi's friend group, Makoto is not a very strong fighter but is still very much willing to step in for the sake of a friend when things get dire.

Makoto is very loyal and caring when it comes to Takemichi especially as he is often seen expressing concern for him whenever he is injured from a fight.

Kazushi Yamagishi

The Walking Delinquent Encyclopedia

Tokyo Revengers Kazushi Yamagishi

Kazushi is another one of Takemichi's middle school friends from his past as a delinquent. While often teased by his friends for being dumb and wearing glasses "just for show" to appear smarter than he really is, Kazushi is surprisingly knowledgeable on topics he takes an interest in.

Despite the playful teasing from his friends, Kazushi's intel and knowledge have helped the group on multiple occasions and have proved to be much more than "just for show".

Emma Sano

The Sweetheart Sister

Tokyo Revengers Emma Sano

Emma Sano is Mikey's half-sister. While Emma tries her hardest to grow up faster and seem older than she really is, she still remains quite childish at times. Her childish side often comes out when around her long-time crush and friend of Mikey's, Draken.

Hinata has stated that Emma is a kind and pure-hearted girl who cares for those around her. However, she often flirts with others around Draken in an attempt to make the oblivious boy jealous.

Nobutaka Osanai

The Humbled Tyrant

Tokyo Revengers Nobutaka Osanai

Osanai is the former Eighth Moebius president and also serves as a minor antagonist. In his younger years, Osanai was a very aggressive and violent individual. Osanai is very confident in his fighting as he is seen taking a boxing stance when in combat.

However, present-day Osanai is almost the complete opposite of his middle school self; as he grew to be a very quiet, nervous, and mild-mannered adult, finding himself apologizing for every mishap.

Tetta Kisaki

The Heartless Mastermind

Tokyo Revengers Tetta Kisaki

Kisaki is the main antagonist throughout the series. Kisaki is the mastermind behind all the events that eventually lead to Hinata Tachibana's death in the present day. Through much planning, he eventually infiltrated Toman and rose to the top, becoming the leader with the goal of being the top criminal in all of Tokyo.

Kisaki is a cruel person who strives for power and infamy and will not allow anything or anyone to get in the way of his goals.

Shuji Hanma

The Adrenaline Addict

Tokyo Revengers Shuji Hanma

Hanma is a secondary antagonist throughout the series. Hanma is described as an adrenaline junkie, finding a rush in any fight or source of violence in order to truly feel alive. Hanma has been involved with many gangs, finding ties with Toman, Moebius, and Valhalla.

Hanma also seems to be a very competent fighter and to everyone's surprise, he was able to block one of Mikey's powerful kicks with ease. Hanma also held his own against Draken, absorbing each of his hits.

Chifuyu Matsuno

The Trusted Partner

Tokyo Revengers Chifuyu Matsuno

Chifuyu is the vice-captain of the First Division of Toman and a good friend of Baji's. Chifuyu, along with Mitsuya, is one of the calmest and most level-headed members of Toman. Chifuyu has a fierce sense of loyalty, almost to a fault, as he is willing to sacrifice his well-being if it is in the name of helping a friend.

Chifuyu is also one of the more logical and rational members of Toman as he is one of the few confidants Takemichi has in the past who was clever enough to have their suspicions about Kisaki well before anyone else.

Kazutora Hanemiya

The Wild Card

Tokyo Revengers Kazutora Hanemiya

Kazutora is one of the founding members of Toman but serves as an antagonist during Toman's battle against Valhalla. Due to rather dark and tragic events of his past, Kazutora is often referred to as a rather unstable person. Kazutora is sadistic and has incredibly violent tendencies.

He is frequently seen lavishing in acts of violence and while most gang activity revolves around hand-to-hand combat, Kazutora seems to have no issue with killing others in cold blood.

Hakkai Shiba

The Scared & Defenseless

Tokyo Revengers Hakkai Shiba-2

Hakkai does have a small cameo during the first season, but it is in season two that he truly gets his time in the spotlight. Hakkai is the second-division vice-captain of the Tokyo Manji Gang and the youngest in the Shiba family. Although Hakkai is more than capable in a fight, he is still very childlike deep down and often is babied by his doting older sister, Yuzuha.

Hakkai lacks a real connection with his eldest brother, Taiju, and often finds himself looking up to fellow Toman member Mitsuya and views him as an older brother figure.

Yuzuha Shiba

The Brave Protector

Tokyo Revengers Yuzuha Shiba

Yuzuha Shiba is the middle child in the Shiba family and always takes it upon herself to be Hakkai's protector. Although Yuzuha is the middle child, she steps up and acts as the most mature and responsible out of the three Shiba siblings.

Despite not being a formal member of any gang, Yuzuha is fairly strong and incredibly tough. Yuzuha has a warm heart and doesn't allow her small size to hold her back from getting into brawls if it means fighting for those she holds dear to her.

Taiju Shiba

The Brutal Tyrant

Tokyo Revengers Taiju Shiba-1

Taiju is the power-hungry eldest brother of the Shiba family. Standing at a towering six foot five inches, Taiju is a beast when it comes to fights and seems to be an undefeated, unstoppable force. Taiju is the current tenth-generation leader of the Black Dragons, a feared rival gang of Toman that also resides in Tokyo.

Tokyo Revengers: Each Main Character, Ranked By Strength
Tokyo Revengers' characters have unique strengths, but when it comes to raw, physical strength, this is where the anime series' characters stand.

Taiju is aggressive, confrontational, and tyrannical. He is the main antagonist of the Black Dragon arc that unfolds during the Christmas holidays. Although Taiju pulls no punches (including when harshly disciplining his younger sister, Yuzuha) and has no problem beating those who stand in his way into submission, he is surprisingly a devout Christian and visits church often.

Perhaps Taiju needs to take another look at the Bible and learn how to be kinder and less violent.

Hajime Kokonoi (Koko)

The Finance Expert

Tokyo Revengers Hajime Kokonoi-1

Kononoi (often just called "Koko") is another member of the Black Dragons and serves as one of Taiju's trusty right hand-men. Koko has the formal title of the Black Dragon's Elite Guard Captain and is said to provide the gang with the funds they need for uniforms or supplies.

Koko appears to be aloof yet still takes his job seriously; appearing to betray his boss, Taiju, just for his "secret information" to be part of his plan all along. Koko's loyalty towards Taiju and the Black Dragons seems true but who knows what the future holds for Koko and his pal, Inui.

Seishu Inui (Inupi)

The Quietly Loyal

Tokyo Revengers Seishu Inui-1

Inui (sometimes referred to as "Inupi" by Kokonoi) is another member of Toman's rival gang, the Black Dragons, and serves as the gang's Attack Squad Captain. Inupi appears to be very protective of his boss, Taiju, and even steps in to defend him even if Taiju is strong enough to not need an extra hand.

Aside from Taiju, Inupi seems to be rather close to fellow gang member, Kokonoi. The origins of the rather large scar running from his forehead across his left eye are yet to be explored in the anime so far.

Shinichiro Sano

The Unforgettable Idol

Tokyo Revengers

Shinichiro was briefly mentioned early on in season one but only now is it apparent that the role he played in the past is imperative to how the future in front of Takemichi unfolds. Shinichiro is Mikey's late older brother who also was a member (and founder) of his own gang, the Black Dragons.

Not all siblings in anime are kind to each other, but these brothers are brave, protective, and constantly show that they love their siblings.

Shinichiro is the link that ultimately brought Izana and Mikey together; acting as the bridge between the two. Mikey wasn't aware of Izana's presence in Shinichiro's life, but Izana was well aware of Mikey and created a rift between the two, sparking Izana's jealousy as he had never experienced a loving family in the past. It was Shinichiro's kind heart that led him to Izana, and tragically, it was Izana's hardened heart that led him back to Mikey.

Izana Kurokawa

The Heartbroken Sibling

Tokyo Revengers Izana Kurokawa

Izana Kurokawa is the (supposed) half-brother of Mikey and Shinichiro Sano. While his introduction was merely teased at the end of the second season, Izana takes the lead role of the main antagonist in season three. His introduction to the series sheds some light on Mikey's past and how the events that happened well before Takemichi's time-traveling are just as important to pay attention to when trying to change the grim future.

Izana's heartlessness was born from his lonely childhood, and it is up to Mikey and the others to help him out of the merciless prison of vengeance.

Kakucho (Kaku-chan)

The Remade Childhood Friend

Kakucho Tokyo Revengers Tenjiku

Very little is known about Kakucho despite him playing a rather big role in the Tenjiku arc. Kakucho can be estimated to be around protagonist Takemichi's age, as the two were classmates in the past. Most of Kakucho's true identity (including something as simple as his official last/full name) is still a mystery to many fans.

However, audiences still get a look into Kaku-chan's tragic past and how a young Izana came to his rescue, beginning Kakucho's journey as Izana's most fearless and loyal follower and friend.

Sanzu Haruchiyo

The Mysterious Shadow

Tokyo Revengers Sanzu Haruchiyo

Up until the third season, Sanzu has remained a mere supporting character; someone who doesn't steal the spotlight but still manages to be noticed in the background. Sanzu doesn't play a large role until he teams up with Mucho to kidnap Takemichi and the others in an attempt to find any traitors.

So far, Sanzu hasn't shown his true colors too much as he still remains a mysterious character. No one fully knows Sanzu and his motives in Toman, but it's clear that he will play a larger role in Takemichi's journey from here on.

Souya Kawata (Angry)

The Rage-Filled Monster

Tokyo Revengers Souya Kawata Angry

While happy-go-lucky brother, Smiley, has gotten his time to shine, Souya (better known as Angry) only gets his own spotlight by the third season. So far, Angry's been a participant in most of the Toman battles, but it is the one against Tenjiku that allows him (and battle partner, Hakkai) to truly show off the real extent of his raw strength.

It is when the "Crying Blue Ogre" side of him is unleashed, that he becomes "a hundred times stronger" according to his brother, Smiley.
