In Takemichi Hanagaki's quest to save his sweetheart, Hinata Tachibana, not only does he have to deal with dangerous gang members, but he must also tamper with the delicate threads of time itself. Throughout Takemichi's journey in Tokyo Revengers, he must travel back in time in order to stop the terrible fate from befalling the ones he holds dear to his heart.

Throughout each journey back and forth through time, Takemichi meets different variations of each character in the show. For any fans that are curious to see how much time has changed each character, here are all the side-by-side comparisons of each Tokyo Revengers' character before and after each jump in time.

Updated on November 20, 2023, by Christine Mendoza: Liden Films wasted no time delivering the new season of Tokyo Revengers, telling the tragic tale known as the Tenjiku Arc. This arc not only introduces new antagonists that aid Kisaki in his quest to corrupt Toman but also offers a glimpse further into the rest of the current cast's histories with one another. Besides the new characters, the Tenjiku Arc delves further into Mikey's past in particular, featuring all his friends and family. To help any dedicated Tokyo Revengers fans keep track of every version of each main character seen so far, a few new entries have been added as well as updated along with the release of the latest season.

24 Takemichi (Takemichi Hanagaki)

The series has seen a few different versions of protagonist Takemichi throughout the current season. While the audience meets an older Takemichi with his natural hair color, the version of Takemichi the audience is likely most well-acquainted with is his younger self.

Teenage Takemichi is the version of the protagonist that gets the most time in the spotlight as most of his plan to protect Hinata occurs when he time travels back to the past. Teenage Takemichi maintains his "punk" look with dyed blond hair, styled in a faux hawk.

The last rendition of Takemichi is an alternate timeline of him in the present day when he still maintains his status in a modern-day Toman. Rather than sporting his messy hair, this Takemichi has his hair slicked back for a much cleaner look than his episode one debut.

23 Naoto Tachibana

• Past Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 1
• Present Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 2

Naoto is Hinata's younger brother. While he may seem like a simple passing character when Takemichi first travels back in time, he proves to be a very integral part of the entire plot. Naoto is first introduced when Takemichi goes back in time for the very first time and meets up with him, right before sending him back to the present day.

Although there's only a year difference between Naoto and Takemichi, Naoto appears much younger/baby-faced. Once he grows up and is reintroduced as an adult, it's clear to see he's matured well and even earned a prestigious job as a detective for the organized crime department of Tokyo.

22 Hinata Tachibana

• Past Design Debut: Season 1- Episode
• Present Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 11

Hinata Tachibana is protagonist Takemichi's love interest as well as the catalyst for the entire series of events that is Tokyo Revengers. Teenage Hinata has short hair and usually has a smile on her face. Her face also appears a bit rounder when she is younger, having more of a baby face due to her adorable, round cheeks.

The audience eventually meets an adult Hinata; still wearing her hair in bangs, but this time growing the rest out to a medium length. Her face is a bit slimmer as well, giving her a more mature look.

21 Draken (Ken Ryugji)

• Past Design Debut: (Child) Season 1- Episode 6, (Teenager) Season 1- Episode 3
• Present Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 17

While teenager Draken sports a very tough, "cool guy" look, his older self (as of the moment) isn't feeling as full of himself as he did in his younger years. Teenage Draken has both sides of his head shaved, with a strand hanging in the front and a long braid in the back.

Adult Draken still shows off his signature dragon tattoo on the side of his head but ditched his stylish blond hairdo and is now completely bald. Adult Draken in this current timeline got rid of the things that made him his usual delinquent self when he was still a teen, such as his piercing and long hair. Hopefully, Takemichi and Naoto can fix things up for Draken so that, even as an adult, he'll still find happiness.

20 Akkun (Atsushi Sendo)

• Present Design Debut: (Hostclub Owner), Season 1- Episode 4, (Hairdresser) Season 1- Episode 12, (Toman Member) Season 1- Episode 24

Akkun is Takemichi's right-hand man and best friend from his teenage years. Akkun is the character that fans have seen the most renditions of. Akkun for the most part has kept his signature slightly wavy red hair. In his teenage years, he has it styled into a pompadour. However, the first adult version of Akkun the audience met was the most different from the Akkun everyone was used to.

The first adult Akkun fans meet has a buzz cut, full tattoo sleeves on both arms and doesn't seem to be in the best health (mentally and physically) as his cheekbones are noticeably sunken in. However, the next rendition of adult Akkun has achieved his dream of becoming a hairdresser and is seemingly in a much better place in life, as his face looks much healthier; he's even maintained his signature pompadour look from his younger years.

19 Chifuyu Matsuno

• Past Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 15
• Present Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 24

Chifuyu takes the role of Takemichi's partner and confidant in his plans to reach the top of Toman. Teenage Chifuyu has dyed blond hair, with a stylish undercut. As he matured into an adult, Chifuyu ditched the dye and decided to sport his natural hair color; keeping his signature undercut, but this time with his natural black hair.

Chifuyu, unlike Draken, decided to keep his piercing and still wears a single silver hoop on his left ear.

18 Shuji Hanma

• Past Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 9
• Present Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 12

Shuji Hanma is one of the main antagonists seen throughout the series. Hanma is a tall man and, although rather slim, a very powerful fighter. Teenage Hanma sports a slick haircut he styles upwards, with the sides shaved and a blond streak in the middle of his black hair. He also has two kanji characters that translate into "sin" and "punishment" tattooed on his right and left hands.

Adult Hanma dons a new, more sophisticated look. Turning away from his teenage delinquent days, adult Hanma has his hair slicked back in a more tousled way, keeping his blond streak but combing it out a bit more. Adult Hanma also paired the look with some glasses and kept his signature earring.

17 Tetta Kisaki

• Past Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 14
• Present Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 24

Tetta Kisaki is the main antagonist of the series and seems to be the source of all of Takemichi's problems. Teenage Kisaki is seen with gold upper framed glasses, an earring on his left ear, and a dyed blond crewcut he styles upward.

After the time skip, adult Kisaki keeps his dyed blond hair, but this time with the sides completely shaved and the rest parted to the side, paired with silver upper-framed glasses in place of his gold ones.

16 Pah-Chin (Haruki Hayashida)

• Past Design Debut: (Child) Season 1- Episode 16, (Teenager) Season 1- Episode 5
• Present Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 24

Pah-chin has had his fair share of time in the spotlight throughout the first season of Tokyo Revengers. Pah-chin in his teenage years has dyed blond hair that he combs over to one side, with the sides clean-shaven. He also has splits in both of his eyebrows and a scar on his lip.

Adult Pah-chin isn't too different from his teenage counterpart; at least in terms of his physical appearance. Pah-chin after the time skip is easily recognizable as he's kept most of his most defining features, with the singular exception of his hair color as adult Pah-chin ditched the dye for his natural hair color.

15 Peh-Yan (Ryohei Hayashi)

• Past Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 5
• Present Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 24

Ryohei is more commonly known by his nickname, Peh-yan, and is Pah-chin's good friend. Peh-yan is one of the few characters that haven't changed at all after the time skip. Peh-yan is a tall man with short, very light brown hair.

For the most part, Peh-yan looks the same between his teenage years and his adult years. His hair is generally the same, with the adult version of him having ever so slightly longer hair.

14 Mucho (Yasuhiro Muto)

• Past Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 5
• Present Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 24

Mucho is a man of few words, but even with how little screen time he got during the first season, he still managed to prove how powerful and capable he is on the field during the big Toman vs. Valhalla fight. Teenage Mucho sported a tough dyed-blond hairdo with the sides and back clean-shaven.

Mucho seems to have shed his former delinquent aesthetic and went for a much more clean-cut and professional look, growing out his hair to have a much more natural yet prim look as well as getting rid of the blond dye.

13 Smiley (Nahoya Kawata)

• Past Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 5
• Present Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 24

Smiley hasn't received much attention throughout the first season so far, but he's still made a lasting impression on fans thanks to his bright and cheery disposition. When audiences first met Smiley, his hair was peach-colored and styled in a rather messy/wavy way, and he had a few piercings on his left ear.

Adult Smiley didn't change up his look too much, sporting a slightly longer hairdo, with waves rather than curls.

12 Makoto Suzuki

• Past Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 1
• Present Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 24

Makoto hasn't gotten a ton of screen time in season one, but that doesn't change the fact that he's always there to back up protagonist Takemichi when he needs help. Makoto is first seen with Takemichi in his teen years with a slicked-back hairstyle, cutting off right above his shoulder, similar to the style of a mullet.

Adult Makoto has so far made a very brief appearance, but it was clear from a single glance that he changed up his look. Time skip Makoto has the sides of his head shaved clean, with the addition of some new piercings on his left ear.

11 Takuya Yamamoto

• Past Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 1
• Present Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 24

Takuya is yet another one of Takemichi's old friends from his childhood. Takuya's teenage look consisted of his blond hair cut to shoulder-length with a middle parting. Meanwhile, the post-time skip of Takuya seems to have toughened up quite a bit, keeping his middle parting but growing his hair out a bit past his shoulders.

He also seems to have a rather large tattoo as it can be seen peeking out of the neckline of his shirt during his first appearance post-time skip.

10 Kazushi Yamagishi

• Past Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 1
• Present Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 24

Kazushi is the last member of Takemichi's ragtag group of friends from his teenage years. Kazushi in his younger years had mid-length chestnut brown hair that he clipped up to keep his bangs out of his face. He also sported red upper-framed glasses.

Adult Kazushi seems to have a slightly more red-toned hair color that he's grown out quite a bit as well. Kazushi is now seen with his long hair, pulled and tied back with a bit of waviness; as well as some new facial hair, circular silver-rimmed glasses, and a mysterious scar across his left eyebrow.

9 Nobutaka Osanai

• Past Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 7
• Present Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 6

Osanai is one of the most difficult characters to recognize after the time skip. Teenage Osanai was a delinquent and even served as a minor antagonist for a good portion of the first season. Osanai in his younger years had a bleach-blond pompadour and a rather large scar across his forehead.

Adult Osanai reverted to his natural hair color and has a rather unkempt look. He has a bit of scruff growing on his face as well as a few missing teeth.

8 Kazutora Hanemiya

• Past Design Debut: (Child) Season 1- Episode 16, (Teenager) Season 1- Episode 14
• Present Design Debut: (Released from Juvenile) Season 2- Episode 1, (Saving Takemichi) Season 2- Episode 1

The very first new (yet familiar) face that audiences were greeted by was an unlikely ally of Takemichi's: Kazutora. The last time fans saw Kazutora, he had been sent to a detention center for ten years due to his hand in Baji's murder back in season one. Takemichi finally rejoins the now-reformed Kazutora in the present time after witnessing Chifuyu's death.

Not only did fans get to witness Kazutora's appearance immediately after his detention sentence but also his look after fully integrating back into society. Past Kazutora had black mid-length hair with chunky highlights that he eventually grew out in favor of his natural hair (black) color that he also cut short during his time at the detention center.

After meeting up with Takemichi in the present, Kazutora had returned to his blonde highlighted look, this time with his long black hair paired with the highlights in the front/bang area to frame his face. It's nice to know that Kazutora had cleaned himself up after his time away and even went back to his beloved banana-like hairdo.

7 Hakkai Shiba

• Past Design Debut: (Child) Season 2- Episode 4, (Teenager) Season 1- Episode 5
• Present Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 24

While Takemichi didn't officially meet Hakkai until the second season of the animated series, to many viewers, Hakkai seemed like a familiar face. Hakkai Shiba is the youngest of the Shiba family and was actually first introduced in episode five of the first season of Tokyo Revengers back in 2021. Although audiences may have caught short glimpses of Hakkai during fights or Toman meetings it is his time-skip version that fans may remember the most.

Past Hakkai has deep blue hair, styled into a buzzcut with designs shaved into the left side of his head. He has a scar that runs across his mouth and wears a single gold hoop on his left ear. The time-skip version of Hakkai is a bit tanner and seems to have a slightly darker shade of blue but still maintains the designs shaved on his left side. However, this version of Hakkai had a hand in the future version of Toman that turned rotten and corrupt. Hopefully, this cocky, tyrannical version of Hakkai isn't the one that fans see by the end of the series.

6 Koko (Hajime Kokonoi)

• Past Design Debut: (Middle School) Season 3- Episode 3, (Teenager) Season 2- Episode 2
• Present Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 24

Kokonoi (often referred to as just "Koko") is yet another character that fans got a small glimpse of during the first season. Koko is only formally introduced early into the second season, however, it was his older self that fans met first during season one. Koko was one of the many members present during the big Toman dinner scene in season one when Toman had already transformed from Mikey's innocent dream into a corrupt corporation.

Past Koko has wavy black hair that he styles off to one side (often called the "death hawk" hairstyle) with lines shaved onto the left side of his head. The time-skip version of Koko switches out his silver chain earring for a gold one and adds a few white/silver highlights into his hair to complete the look.

5 Inupi (Seishu Inui)

• Past Design Debut: (Middle School) Season 2- Episode 9, (Teenager) Season 2- Episode 2
• Present Design Debut: Season 1- Episode 24

Inui (usually called "Inupi) is also a new character that isn't exactly a fresh face to audiences. Inupi was also one of the mysterious members present at the Toman's upper-echelon meeting dinner scene that fans witnessed during the first season. At the time, fans didn't know much about the older Inupi besides the fact he was an ex-Black Dragons member (as stated by Chifuyu during the dinner).

The older version of Inupi fans first met in the anime has short, blonde hair with a scar running across his forehead, down his left eye to his temple. Meanwhile, the younger Inupi Takemichi has formally met in season two has slightly longer blonde hair, with a middle part, with styled bangs that are longer in the front with the back trimmed much shorter.
