When Titanfall made its debut at E3 2013, the entire gaming industry took notice. The first title from Respawn Entertainment, a studio comprised of a number of former Infinity Ward developers, won itself over 80 awards from a copious number of different outlets. This wave of critical acclaim has more or less assured Electronic Arts that the game is on a fast track for success, and now the company has informed gamers when they can expect Titanfall to drop onto store shelves.
Bust out those calendars and get a marker ready, because Titanfall will be launching for Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC on March 11, 2014 in North America and March 13, 2014 in Europe. As a first-person shooter with a massive focus on mech combat, Titanfall looks like it’ll be nothing short of a unique and successful venture for both the developers behind it and the gamers that’ll be playing it.
Call of Duty co-creator and Respawn Entertainment co-founder Vince Zampella issued a statement emphasizing how the current hype for the forthcoming title is fuelling his team as they approach their March deadline.
“Since we revealed the game in June we’ve been absolutely blown away by the reaction to Titanfall. The feedback we’re getting from fans around the world is fueling our team as we head towards March and motivating us to deliver an experience that lives up to the hype.”
Not content with just confirming a launch date, Electronic Arts has also announced that there will be a very limited Titanfall Collector’s Edition made available for diehard fans. Ringing in at a bank-breaking $249.99, the Collector’s Edition will come packed with a number of drool-inducing collectibles, the largest and most intriguing inclusion being an 18″ titan statue.
Titanfall Collector’s Edition will come packaged with the following:
- An 18” hand-crafted titan statue with diorama and battery-powered LED lighting
- A full-size art book featuring more than 190 pages of rare concept art
- An exclusive full-size schematic poster of the Atlas titan
- A copy of Titanfall
This SKU will feature a copy of the game for the user’s platform of choice (Xbox One, Xbox 360, or PC) and will be made available simultaneously alongside standard copies this March. Respawn is urging people to put their money down for the Collector’s Edition now, however, as supplies are said to be very limited.
Respawn’s Twitter account teased this announcement yesterday, which lead some to believe that the news may pertain to a Titanfall beta. While that’s now been ruled out, it’s still very likely that the developer will want to have one prior to launch, which means a beta likely won’t be happening until 2014 at the earliest. With that in mind, stay tuned to Game Rant for updates on a potential Titanfall beta.
Will you be picking up Titanfall this March, Ranters? Is there a chance that you’ll be pre-ordering the Collector’s Edition?
