Many people see the Titanfall games as underrated, yet brilliant installments in the FPS genre, and there's been a fair amount of buzz for fans of the cult classic about Titanfall 3. A leaker posted last week that EA Play is coming to Xbox Game Pass, and since that proved to be right, there's a larger possibility now that the user's other claim is true: Titanfall 3 is in "deep development."

The Titanfall series has garnered critical acclaim, especially Titanfall 2 when it came out in 2016, and when that game came out on Steam earlier this year, the Titanfall series gained a lot of new players. Many fans believe Titanfall 2 was doomed to low sales since it released right between Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, but the game has recently seen a resurgence in popularity. Titanfall 3 may not be the most anticipated potential game of 2020 or 2021, but it certainly has a thriving and passionate community.

Reddit user Vitamin-A- posted last week in r/GamingLeaksAndRumors a claim that they'd spoken with two friends working at EA who hinted at EA Play joining Game Pass. The mods deleted the original post, but the comments make it clear that people were highly dubious of the user's claim. An aside that Titanfall 3 is in development was also used as proof that the OP was bogus, but now that the main claim is proven true, that elevates the validity of the second leak as well.

Titanfall 2 was nearly dead before Steam made the title available and amped up the playerbase, and a small but dedicated fandom is keeping the community alive and driving a lot of the buzz behind a potential Titanfall 3. If a game with a poorly-timed release and a minimal fandom can be brought back from the grave four years after the fact, then making a sequel, potentially with next-gen technology, doesn't seem like such a far-fetched idea after all.

However, there's still a lot of questions remaining, and just because the Titanfall series is proving more lucrative all doesn't confirm any facts about a sequel. Many people who downvoted or expressed their doubts on the original post are still not convinced by the second, and as many people pointed out, EA Game Pass coming to Xbox Game Pass hasn't exactly been the best-kept secret and the OP last week was far from the only source pointing this out.

Still, it's worth noting that earlier this year, the EA CFO teased Titanfall 3, so while there's no confirmation that a sequel will happen, there's also no strong evidence denying the possibility. Sure, it's about as likely as Valve releasing Team Fortress 3, but stranger things have happened this year.

Titanfall 2 is currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
