While it might not have been the smash hit that EA was hoping for, Titanfall 2 has certainly managed to amass a passionate community of fans. The game's unique brand of FPS action has garnered a dedicated player base, many of whom go above and beyond in create content to entertain one another.

There are few members of the community who serve as a better representative than Iniquity. He's been creating videos about Titanfall 2 for some time, and he's universally liked among his peers — which prompted a groundswell of support when he was struck by tragedy last week.

Iniquity was crushed when his beloved dog Onyx passed away at the ripe old age of 18. Onyx had been a treasured companion since Iniquity was just 12 years old, so it's not difficult to imagine how traumatic the experience must have been for him.

Happily, fellow members of the Titanfall 2 community really rallied around Iniquity, sending him messages of support and even petitioning developer Respawn Entertainment to add a tribute to the game itself. What's more, the studio took the idea on board, and has now unveiled its plans to immortalize Onyx in-game.

A future update will add a brand new banner dedicated to the memory of Iniquity's dog, that any and all players can equip. This is a gesture that doesn't cost Respawn anything other than a little bit of time and effort, but it's sure to mean a great deal to Iniquity, and the community as a whole.

"Not really sure what to say," the player wrote in response to the news. "This is really amazing and I really, really appreciate it. That’s super cool of you guys, and [artist] Rodrigo [Ribiero] did a fantastic job. Thank you SO much."

Titanfall 2 is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
