Titan Books Will Publish ‘Awakening: The Art of Halo 4’

Building the elaborate Halo franchise was no easy task. Since the birth of the series, the world of Halo has seen enormous landscapes and brilliant attention to detail throughout numerous game titles. With Halo 4 releasing this year, Titan Books has been tasked with publishing Awakening: The Art of Halo 4.

This deluxe hardcover book will provide gamers with never-before-seen concepts and designs from Halo 4. Unlike a previous art book recently released, Halo: The Art of Building Worlds, this new title will only focus on Halo 4.

Awakening: The Art of Halo 4 will showcase the characters, weapons, vehicles, and the environment. Compiling art work from the beginning stages of development to the game’s release, Awakening should be a great look into how 343 Industries approached the franchise – compared to what Bungie had done previously.

Titan Books will also be working with Microsoft and 343 Industries to help promote the release of this title. From the senior commissioning editor, Laura Price:

“Halo art is simply stunning and Halo 4 has some of the most powerful and beautiful concept art I’ve ever seen. Halo is the godfather of gaming and we’re delighted to be involved with the new release.”

With a whole new trilogy on our hands, the creative development team on this game got a fresh start. 343 Industries wanted to create dramatic innovations in the next installment to the epic franchise. With these new innovations, this could mean a lot of great and interesting concept work. Art director for Halo 4, Neill Harrison, said in a recent mini-documentary, that they tried to make this game bigger and better. How much bigger can we get?

Taking a look at a previously released map from Halo 4 and even more recent concepts of characters, the art is extraordinary and if these are similar to what we can find in Awakening: The Art of Halo 4 then gamers are in for a treat.

Awakening: The Art of Halo 4 will be out in November 2012 with Halo 4 releasing exclusively for the Xbox 360 on November 6, 2012.
