Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands delivers in many areas, from its entertaining dialogue to its varied environments and enemy types. Fans have used Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ character creator to make many memorable Fatemakers, while the Overworld map has been praised for its charm. Unsurprisingly, considering that it is a Borderlands spin-off, the game also excels when it comes to weapons.

Throughout their playthroughs, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands players will come across many unique weapons. These range from a giant fish that can be used to melee enemies to a Shotgun that triggers an arrow barrage that comes down from the sky. However, despite all these unique weapons, fans were a bit let down to see that Legendary was the highest rarity once again. While this does not impact the game in a negative way, it does still feel like a missed opportunity, as Rainbow weapons would have been a perfect fit for Tina’s fantasy world.

How Effervescent Weapons Could Have Been Used in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands

While Rainbow gear may not be as memorable as Pearlescent or even Seraph weapons, it was still a fun addition and would be great to see again one day. Added during the Borderlands 2 DLC Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary, Effervescent guns were incredibly powerful and stood out since they synergized with each other. If players got multiple items in a set, they could have an incredibly powerful build that allowed them to take down Raid bosses with ease.

Effervescent weapons became known as Rainbow guns for a few reasons. First, each Effervescent gun shared a shiny pastel color scheme, with the camo featuring a variety of colors. Their names also changed to show several colors of the rainbow instead of just staying orange like normal Legendary items. Lastly, the gear emitted a huge rainbow lightbeam after falling to the floor, making it clear when the items had been dropped by an enemy.

Having sets designed to synergize with each other would be a great feature for any Borderlands game, especially Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. It is easy to imagine a Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands spell that gets significantly stronger if players have certain rings equipped, and it could be a ton of fun to see the power increase with each piece of the set the player collects. A special endgame rarity is always exciting, too, and while Chaotic and Volatile gear is a nice halfway point, another rarity entirely would get players even more excited to grind for loot.

Further, Rainbow weapons match the aesthetic that Tina went for when creating her world. One look at Brighthoof’s rainbow or the skeep-filled beanstalk that is Tangledrift is all that it takes to realize how colorful The Wonderlands is. Glittery and vibrant weapons that match the world around the Fatemaker simply make sense, so it is odd that they were not included. While the drop color for Chaos Crystals would need to be adjusted since it resembles the look of an Effervescent drop, this would be worthwhile.

If Gearbox wanted to, it could even make these items something that players acquire directly from Butt Stallion. She could shoot weapons out of her horns like she did at the end of the game after the Dragon Lord was defeated, letting players get Rainbow weapons straight from the queen. Paying Moon Orbs for a batch of Butt Stallion’s loot would be a perfect way to go, as the currency could be a stand-in for Eridium. Currently, its only purpose is to re-roll enchantments, so this added functionality could make it more worthwhile. While Rainbow weapons will likely never come to the game, it is hard not to see their omission as a missed opportunity.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
