Borderlands fans can rejoice as Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is finally making its debut. Gearbox Software's latest release forces a twist on the Borderlands formula, dragging players into a Dungeons & Dragons-styled adventure that fans got a taste of in Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep DLC for Borderlands 2. It's been almost nine years since that iconic DLC adventure dropped and now players have an entire AAA release centered around the premise to shoot-and-loot their way through.
Although many are hyped to simply pick a character and start their quest, there are many out there that are curious if they'll be able to play with friends. It just wouldn't be a Borderlands release without some exciting cooperative gameplay. But why types of cooperative play are available, and will players be able to trounce through the Wonderlands with friends from other platforms? Here's all fans need to know about crossplay in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.
Is There Crossplay In Tiny Tina's Wonderlands?
Thankfully, those looking to play Tiny Tina's Wonderlands with their friends will have no issues connecting to those that use a different platform. According to Gearbox Software's Randy Pitchford (via Twitter), players will be able to enjoy Crossplay with all platforms, including the PlayStation (thanks to a combined effort with Sony). This is a huge step forward for Borderlands fans, as Tiny Tina's Wonderlands will be the first iteration in which players can all combine forces across different platforms from the start. Borderlands 3 did include a Crossplay feature, but it wasn't fully implemented until after the title had released. For Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, Crossplay will be available in its entirety at launch.
There will also be split-screen play but only locally, meaning couch co-op is very much a thing in the latest release. PC players may be able to get split-screen to work using local-play methods but none of them are official or endorsed by Gearbox Software at this time.
How To Play Crossplay In Tiny Tina's Wonderlands
Those that want to jump in on the Crossplay action for Tiny Tina's Wonderlands are going to need to first sign up for a SHiFT account. The Gearbox Software service makes a return for their latest release, giving players one amalgamated space to add and play with all of their friends. Once players have set up a SHiFT account, they can boot up Tiny Tina's Wonderlands and hop into an adventure. Inviting friends to play along is as easy as clicking the Social Button (denoted by three small people icons) in the top right-hand corner of the screen. From there, players can choose any friends they've added that they would like to play with. Inviting them will place them into the lobby, where players can then embark on their adventure.
Players will also be able to access the Matchmaking section from the Social section, allowing them to join players that are "around the same area within the story" as them. This gives players the opportunity to play with other Borderlands fans, hopefully making some new friends along the way.
Tiny Tina's Wonderlands releases March 25th, 2022 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
