Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a huge deviation from the standard Borderlands games, combining the world and gameplay of the series with new innovations, settings, and more inspired by Dungeons and Dragons. After Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep, it does seem like a fitting spin-off of sorts for the franchise. One other big change, alongside the addition of magic, is Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ approach to classes.

If this was a Borderlands game, it would stand to reason that there would be four classes all based on the character themselves. However, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands players take on the role of the Fatemaker and can pick from one of six classes. They will always have a primary class, but they can pick a secondary class down the road, creating some fascinating character builds along the way. Previously, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands had confirmed the BRR-Zerker, the Clawbringer, the Stabbomancer, and the Spellshot. Now, it has pulled back the curtain on the final two classes.

These two new Tiny Tina's Wonderlands classes are the Graveborn and Spore Warden. Graveborns are described as “Death-touched acolytes who sacrifice health to unleash devastating Dark Magic attacks and become the phantasmal Reaper of Bones, accompanied by their manic Demi-Lich companion.” In terms of gameplay, the Graveborn is a master of kill skills, spells, and Dark Magic, with action skills sacrificing HP to deal Dark Magic damage. Any spell the Graveborn casts also causes the Demi-Lich companion to cast a spell as well.

Full skill trees for the Graveborn have yet to be revealed, but two abilities have been confirmed:

  • Reaper of Bones – Grants bonus Health Steal and Magic damage for a time period while health drains.
  • Dire Sacrifice – Graveborns sacrifice 20% of their health to perform an AOE Dark Magic attack on all nearby foes.

The Spore Warden in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands seems to be the equivalent of a druid in Dungeons and Dragons, as they are described as “masters of nature who summon tornadoes and launch volleys of arcane arrows into enemies alongside their toxin-spewing Mushroom Companion.” The Spore Wardens focus on gun and companion abilities, boosting companions and allies while maintaining control over enemies with firepower and tornadoes. The two abilities revealed for the Spore Warden include the following:

  • Barrage of Arrows – Fire 7 arrows at once in a horizontal line
  • Blizzard – Cast 3 frost cyclones that seek out enemies

The game is crudely two months from launch right now, but the diverse selection of classes in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is certainly entertaining. Being able to multi-class, in essence, too should open up a ton of builds, as a Dark Druid multi-class between the Graveborn and Spore Warden sounds appealing for controlling the field and dealing damage. But, for now, fans will just have to wait and see what kind of builds come out of these classes.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands launches March 25, 2022, on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
