Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will feature a large number of spells for players to use, with the new multi-class system allowing gamers to truly make their character their own. Recently, a new trailer was released for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands that broke down two of these class options, and both look like they could be a lot of fun to use once the looter shooter makes its debut.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ Stabbomancer class should immediately catch the eye of Zer0 players, as a similar cloak ability allows gamers to go invisible and sneak up on their foes. With a throwable blade also shown to be part of the class, it could end up being a very popular choice. However, the BRR-zerker is equally intriguing, as the class name is a callback to one from the original Borderlands. While players were able to make Phaseserker builds for Amara that focused primarily on melee damage, this will be the first time in a while where a class that is truly melee-focused is available.

Borderlands’ Berserker Class

Beloved Borderlands character Brick was the original Berserker, and his class focused mainly on him smacking things around. While this has carried over to his role as an NPC, as he can be seen running around the map and hitting anything that comes close whenever he appears, actually playing as Brick was a bit repetitive. His action skill saw his screen turn red, with melee attacks doing more damage and the character gaining some extra damage resistance. Given that some enemies could not be punched, and others were hard to get close to, the effectiveness of the skill depended on what was being fought.

While Brick was fun to play in the original Borderlands, the limited melee options in that game did make his class a bit less interesting than it could have been. Though shotguns were a good fit for the Vault Hunter, the lack of proper melee weapons meant that he could only use his fists in close quarters combat. He had a strong left hook and a quick right jab, but beyond these two punches, there was not that much depth to his main skill. Fortunately, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is taking things up a notch with its melee combat.

How Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ BRR-Zerker Is Different

Not only will proper melee weapons feature in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, but the game will also be giving players access to an updated take on the Berserker class. While there is a chance that the class will feature some tank-like capabilities like what Brick had, as it would be nice to shrug off damage, it will also feature a proper melee weapon. This special axe comes equipped with Cryo damage, allowing its users to freeze foes. This instantly gives the class more depth than the original Berserker, as ice-focused abilities like those used by Zane and Aurelia could also be incorporated.

Like Brick’s fists, there are two ways to attack, though Borderlands fans will be happy to see that both options are unique and more exciting than some close-range punches. The first attack option is Feral Surge, which sees gamers leaping forward to close the distance and attack Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ many enemies. They will then slam the ground, freezing and shattering foes at the same time. Dreadwind is another attack available to BRR-zerker users, with players spinning in circles with their axe and dealing massive damage. For Dreadwind, the camera moves into a third person perspective, allowing players to control where they are going. These abilities providing quick movement means that users of this melee-focused class should never struggle to get up close, something that is always crucial to making such a playstyle effective.

Overall, the BRR-zerker class is a natural evolution of the Berserker that made its debut back in 2009. The Borderlands series has come a long way since the first game released, with Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands showing just how much changed. With third person attacks, a proper melee weapon, and the addition of Cryo damage, it is hard to imagine the BRR-zerker being anything but better than the class it bases its name on. While players will need to wait until the game launches next year to learn how good the class really is, the abilities that have been revealed thus far look extremely promising.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
