It doesn't matter if the player is brand new to this style of gaming or is an avid fan of the Borderlands series, sometimes all that's needed is a few tips to help players get on their feet and enjoy Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.

Updated July 8, 2022, by Jessica Filby: Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is the newest addition to the Borderlands franchise and is continuing to be a great success within the gaming industry. However, the increasing popularity brings with it a multitude of new players who find themselves in a scenario unlike any other. This game is advertised as being a completely new take on the original Borderlands formula and so it's not uncommon to see seasoned players enter the game with no idea as to what's going on. No matter if fans have played the previous games or are just starting their Borderlands adventure with this one, there are some tips that every Tiny Tina's Wonderlands beginner just has to know.

15 Personality Voices

Character Creation

When it comes to making a character in most RPG video games, players are able to choose a voice as well as how they look or what clothes they wear. This introduces an element of uniqueness to the game itself and allows players to really feel like they are embodying the character they choose.

However, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands takes this character creation one step further. Players get to create a personality that actually impacts what and how the character speaks. It makes it entirely personal and a choice that players should make carefully when selecting.

14 Photo Mode

Photo Mode in Tiny Tina

The style of the Borderlands games is unlike any other. They're recognizable as being cartoonish with distinctive lines and beautiful colors which often leaves players sitting back and admiring the landscape around them.

Thankfully, such a landscape can be savored for longer in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands through the available photo mode. It's only really useful for simple shots but it's a great way to save some hilarious scenes or stunning landscapes.

13 Complete Side Quests

Complete Side Quests

When it comes to RPGs there are two ways many fans play. The first typically make sure they explore everything, complete as many side and main quests as they can, and are typically the completionists of the industry. The second are the speedrunners who either focus purely on the main quest and put the game down or complete the main quest and then do all the side quests after.

The way Tiny Tina's Wonderlands plays will require players to complete at least a few side quests along the way. This will help level the player up, give them useful loot, and will just make the rest of the game that much easier.

12 Always Stick To The High Ground

Always Stick To The High Ground

In typical Star Wars fashion, having the high ground is a fantastic advantage in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. It allows players to see everything they need to see, assess the battle before engaging, and, if they are wielding a sniper, they can maybe take down some enemies from a much safer position.

It's always worth looking out for any spots to get up before engaging in a particular landscape. It's a safer option and is a habit every beginner will need to pick up when going forward in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.

11 Practice Makes Perfect

Practice Makes Perfect

In the same way as the traditional Borderlands games, there are many unique elements to Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. There are guns with exciting abilities, spells that can do pretty much whatever the player wants, and so many other elements that players need to understand.

When equipping a new spell or gun, they should make sure to practice with it before getting into a serious battle. Nothing is worse than equipping new elements only to find they're useless against the enemy that's four levels higher already. Players should practice before fighting and understand what to fight with and when.

10 Upgrade Backpacks

Tiny Tina's Wonderland Backpack upgrade

Backpacks are where players store their loot. This looter shooter is filled with exciting weapons and items that could prove to be useful in the battles ahead. So nothing is worse than finding a ring that's perfect for the character, only to find that it won't fit in the backpack and therefore cannot be picked up.

This is why it's vital players look to upgrade their backpacks whenever possible. Head to the Brighthoof Blacksmith when it becomes an available location and quest to increase carrying capacity. The focus should be on carrying capacity rather than lost loot space or a storage bank, however, it won't hurt to grab this when it's viable.

9 Keep Inventory Smart

One of the most important aspects of Tiny Tina's Wonderland is the loot and how the player can effectively manage that as they traverse through the lands fighting enemies everywhere they go. This is why it's extremely important to be smart about the inventory slots by keeping up-to-date with what is actually needed and what can be removed without losing the actual item.

This is the case with most cosmetics. As it is with a lot of RPGs, the player doesn't need to keep all the cosmetic items in their inventory. Simply selecting them will remove them from the inventory space and allow the player to put them on in Brighthoof Tavern. It's also worth dropping repeat cosmetics since they don't sell and will just clog up the player's inventory.

8 Don't Be Afraid To Spend Money

Tiny Tina's Wonderland Vending Machines

Due to the design and gameplay of Tiny Tina's Wonderland, it's guaranteed the player will get a lot of loot. So it can be rather tempting to throw it away and wait for a better item to drop from an enemy. While that's a good idea if the player's inventory is full, it's still important to find a weapon that's right and keep hold of the others to sell or to visit vending machines and not hesitate to spend the not-so-precious gold.

After all, the only thing money will need to be spent on is backpack upgrades so it's not a game-changing aspect. Just make sure the backpack upgrades are the priority and sell everything that isn't needed.

7 Push Enemies Away

In Dungeons & Dragons, or Baldur's Gate 3, one of the most useful elements to battle is the shove action. Fighting over a cliff? Shove them off. Need them out the way? Shove them out the way to get a more advantageous position. This is something players can do in Tiny Tina's Wonderland, although is more to avoid the encounter as a whole. Nevertheless, this is something even some pros are yet to discover.

Players can simply wait for the enemy to get up close and personal and punch them away. The key is to not let the enemy hit the character first or the battle will commence.

6 Avoiding Battles

Due to the many random encounters, side quests and general enemies dotted about the map, it's not uncommon to find an endless stream of battles taking place. Sometimes this can be useful, especially if the player needs to level up or is looking for loot. However, sometimes it can just be frustrating. This is why it's often better to just run away from them.

Similarly, to the shove, the player just needs to make sure they don't get hit by the enemy. As soon as the enemy is spotted, run as far out of their way as possible to avoid any annoying attacks.

5 Careful Character Creation

Tiny Tina's Wonderland Character Creation

Just like it is in Dungeons and Dragons or a lot of recent RPGs that involve character creation, the player needs to think long and hard about what they want from the character and the game. Selecting such a character in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands has a sizable influence on the game itself as well as the dialogue.

While it's ultimately the player who dictates what the character does, the insufferable lines of dialogue when the character is made to be annoying will grind the players' gears.

4 Constitution Is Key

At a first glance, stats can be relatively confusing and will often make for a challenging decision early on in the game. Luckily there should be one main focus: constitution. After all, it's what controls the player's maximum hit points and many other important aspects that will keep the player alive and making powerful hits.

Constitution will improve the Ward too, something that will undoubtedly keep players alive just as much as their hit point will, making constitution one of the most important aspects of any character.

3 Super Shrines

Tiny Tina's Wonderland Shrine

Not only do the Shrines look awesome but they do awesome things too. Collecting all the Shrine pieces and completing these quests will allow the player access to passive world effects like experience and gold increases, something that could be game-changing.

Just don't worry too much about collecting all four shards as some are hidden in main quests and others are dotted about the map. Keep playing the game to unlock more shards but make sure to head back to the Shrines to unlock the perk as soon as it becomes available.

2 Keep To The Grind

Some players love to grind through some easier monsters to get more loot, gold, or XP, others hate it. Unfortunately, grinding certainly feels like an aspect many are unable to avoid in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. If the player want's to progress quickly and not feel like they are being put up against enemies completely out of their skill range then grinding is a necessity.

Whether that's done through side quests, dungeons, or random encounters the player will often find themselves needing a certain resource only available to them through grinding. Just keep pushing through and the end result will be worth it.

1 Use The Bling

Tiny Tina's Wonderland Rings

A lot of RPGs use cosmetics in one of two ways. Either it's only there to make the character look good, or it's there to provide helpful buffs which can often be indispensable to certain players. Tiny Tina's Wonderland is the latter of the two, focusing on giving the player some incredibly powerful buffs through the use of rings and other elements.

Players should keep an eye on the rings, amulets, and really anything the player chooses to put on, and make sure they will work with the character created. If they do, it could make the character more powerful than ever.

Tiny Tina's Wonderland is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
