As many players are diving into the new generation of consoles, at least when they are able to find stock of either the PlayStation 5 of Xbox Series hardware, there are still those happy to embrace the past. Retro gaming, despite being an increasingly more expensive hobby with each year, still has a dedicated following. Many gamers are always ready to hook up vintage hardware to relive previous generations of games and explore the trends of the time.

One such retro enthusiast is TikToker charlietheadventurevan who took the time to show off their incredible gaming setup. The video starts off interestingly enough, teasing the content of a wooden box placed in the center of a living room. Accompanied by the text "when people ask what else we have built besides the van..." the voice behind charlietheadventurevan explains that "everybody has that one thing inside their house that everyone thinks is so cool" and this set up is that for them.

Upon opening the lid, viewers are treated to a gaming delight as within the box is an assortment of gaming hardware spanning over seven console generations from the original Nintendo Entertainment System all the way to the Nintendo Switch. The box holds five different consoles with the majority of them being Nintendo products. Viewers will be able to identify the aforementioned NES alongside a Nintendo 64, GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Nintendo Switch, all within the box alongside the respective controllers for each machine. The gaming chest also features its own television with an accompanying video switch to move between consoles. Click here to see the video.

Noticeably absent from the collection is any hardware from the fourth console generation which includes the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis (or Mega Drive for the Europeans). The odd one in the bunch is definitely the white PlayStation 2 that sits between the Nintendo Switch and GameCube. It is the only non-Nintendo hardware hidden within the setup, making it standout quite a bit from the rest of the devices.

While there appears to be a more space within the box for additional hardware, it likely won't be able to handle the most recent releases from either Sony or Microsoft. One of the notable changes with the recently released hardware is that the extra horsepower has led to a bigger package than usual. The PlayStation 5 alone stands as the biggest console ever released with the Xbox Series X also featuring a beefier build. While it might be a wild sight to see either console take up a significant portion of the gaming chest, charlietheadventurevan will likely be holding that spot for the heavily rumored Nintendo Switch Pro.

So for those hankering to go back to the generations of old, charlietheadventurevan's homemade setup might be a good push players need. Check out their full video here. Considering how understocked the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles are, sticking to retro gaming for a spell might help with the wait.
