The Netflix docuseries Tiger King has taken off in a huge way, so much so that it has begun showing up all over the place. From its own Honest Trailer to serving as the inspiration for the latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare bundleTiger King is everywhere right now.

This is not exactly the first Netflix series that has seriously exploded in popularity, but it has been a while since one has accrued such a huge viewer base this fast. The popularity of the story of Joe Exotic has not gone unnoticed, and it has led to a huge rush to produce a fictional film or show based off the same source material as Tiger King as quickly as possible.

Studios and production companies have been reaching out left and right to find people to embody the often frightening and downright bizarre characters of Tiger King, and it seems at least one has struck gold. Nicolas Cage has been approached to play Joe Exotic in a series based off an article detailing his (Exotic's) life and escapades. As a man who will try any role, even one that added Oculus Rift support for a movie, it is hard to imagine better casting than Cage for someone like Joe Exotic.

Of course the COVID-19 pandemic has been delaying productions left and right, so fans of the Cage can only hope that this doesn't become another role that Nicolas Cage almost played.
