Netflix is notorious for never releasing its statistical data. But ever since the release of Tiger King, the original documentary following the insane circumstances around Joe Exotic, people have been curious.

Nielsen's data is not able to get an overall accurate account of exactly how many people are watching the Netflix mega-hit documentary. Based on "extrapolated evidence," Nielsen is able to project a possible number from a specific sample group.  This essentially means numbers taken from TVs connected directly to the internet and analytics on social media are reviewed and analyzed. Nielsen data concludes that in the first ten days of its release, Tiger King beat out the viewers of Stranger Things season 2.

It was estimated that 31.2 million people tuned into Tiger King in the first 10 days, just a few million viewers shy of Stranger Things season 3, which had 36.3 million. Fans should keep in mind that these numbers are not taking into account mobile viewing, nor global viewing, as the Nielsen's are only conducted in the United States. But apart from the conjecture, it's clear that Tiger King is becoming one of Netflix's most popular shows to date.

Tiger King is a documentary out now and only available on Netflix.
