A ton of news has been dropping lately concerning the fan-favorite Final Fantasy franchise. Not only did part one of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake get a release date at E3 2019, but a remastered version of Final Fantasy 8 was also announced. And now, it seems that the fan-favorite Final Fantasy 7 character, Tifa Lockhart, will be coming to the spin-off fighting game, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT.

She is joining Cloud Strife and Sephiroth as playable characters from Final Fantasy 7 in the spin-off fighting game and will feature her original look. She will also be a speed fighter in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT like Final Fantasy 8's Squall Leonheart, Final Fantasy 9's Zidane Tribal, Final Fantasy 10's Tidus, and Final Fantasy 13's Lightning.

The decision from Square Enix to include Tifa in her original look for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is an interesting one, given that the publisher decided to change up Tifa's look in the forthcoming remake of Final Fantasy 7. The latter choice was because the Ethics department felt that it would make Tifa look unnatural in actions scenes otherwise, and given the bump in graphical quality, it makes sense.

This may have played some role in keeping her look in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, as she would not adopt that aforementioned unnatural look, but it's worth mentioning that publisher Square Enix never stated this and it is mere speculation. Regardless, many will be glad to see Tifa Lockhart appear in the fighting game, and this revelation came with gameplay and alternative costumes/colors for Tifa (with one being her outfit from Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children).

Square Enix also confirmed her Japanese release date as July 2 as paid DLC through Steam and July 3 on the PlayStation Store. There's no word if that is an international date for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT at the time of this writing, or if she will be releasing later elsewhere. Either way, it seems likely players will be able to check out Tifa in the fighting game before seeing her again in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is out now for PC and PS4.
