Though its release is still about a year and a half into the future, the anticipation for Marvel's Thunderbolts is growing. With the announcement of the team's roster at last year's D23, Marvel made it clear that this would be a group made of some of Marvel's most memorable misfits. Now, yet another face has been added to the cast of the movie.

Deadline reports that Ayo Edibiri, star of The Bear and the buzzy Sundance hit Theater Camp, will be joining Thunderbolts in an undisclosed role. It remains to be seen if that role is supporting in nature, or if Edibiri will be playing a character with some significance to this and future Marvel projects.

Ayo Edibiri has appeared in a number of television projects, including providing the voice of Missy in Netflix's Big Mouth. However, her most notable role may be on the FX series The Bear. There, Edibiri played Sydney, an aspiring young chef who must deal with the frustrations and stress of working in a professional kitchen, albeit one that needs a lot of work and isn't exactly high-end. Edibiri also wrote for and acted in Dickinson, which featured rising Marvel star Hailee Steinfeld in the titular role of Emily Dickinson.

MCU's Thunderbolts lineup: Valentina, Ghost, Alexei, Yelena, Bucky, US Agent, and Taskmaster

Thunderbolts will see the return of a number of Marvel characters, including Black Widow's Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Olga Kurylenko reprising their roles as Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, and Taskmaster, respectively. Sebastian Stan will also return as Bucky Barnes, along with Ant-Man and the Wasp's Hannah John Kamen as Ghost, and Falcon and the Winter Soldier's Wyatt Russell as John Walker aka US Agent. Julia Louis-Dreyfus will also be returning as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who has turned out to be a significant driving force in the latest phase of Marvel films. Despite the movie's title, it is not yet confirmed whether Harrison Ford will appear as Thunderbolt Ross, as he will in Captain America: New World Order.

No plot details have been revealed as of yet for Thunderbolts, though online rumors have been circulating that say the team will find themselves facing off with the Sentry, Marvel's morally compromised version of Superman. Those same rumors also indicate that Valentina will end up being the real villain of the movie (a move that Marvel has pulled before in Captain America: The Winter Soldier). However, none of this has been substantiated by the always-secretive Marvel Studios. For now, fans can only speculate as to how Thunderbolts will play out, and how it might affect future stories.

Thunderbolts is set for release on July 26th, 2024.
