7/2 Update: CD Projekt has indicated that it has three teams "focusing on the development of Cyberpunk 2077," as opposed to working on three different Cyberpunk projects. Original story follows.

At the Microsoft E3 2019 press conference, the Cyberpunk 2077 release date was finally revealed, and many fans are now excitedly awaiting the game's launch in 2020. While it seems safe to assume that the base Cyberpunk 2077 experience will offer a great deal of content, it appears that fans that wish to spend more time in the world of Cyberpunk will have the opportunity to do so, as CD Projekt has confirmed that there are currently three Cyberpunk projects in development.

The first of these three projects is, as many would expect, the main Cyberpunk 2077 game, and the second is a Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer component. While CD Projekt has previously confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will not have multiplayer at launch, the company has indicated that multiplayer is of interest for the title. As such, it is not extremely surprising to hear that Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer is in the works, but some will certainly welcome this more definitive confirmation on the matter.

The third of these three projects is where things get really interesting though, as it is said that CD Projekt is working on a second AAA RPG, set in the Cyberpunk universe, which is scheduled to release before the end of 2021. Indeed, the company has previously alluded to a secret CD Projekt game releasing in a similar timeframe, and this new information suggests that this unannounced title may allow fans to continue their exploration of Cyberpunk's world.

These details come via Polish publication Bankier.pl, reporting on a recent CD Projekt conference, with the company's vice president, Piotr Nielubowicz, being the one to make reference to this second Cyberpunk RPG. Specifically, Nielubowicz indicates that the game is already in the works, and it is being treated as "a really big and innovative project" by the developer.

What exactly this might mean is anyone's guess at this time, but it does seem that CD Projekt has something beyond the previously confirmed Cyberpunk 2077 expansions planned. Moreover, with the developer suggesting that the second game's release date will come before 2021 is over, it seems that fans that want more after they have completed Cyberpunk 2077 may not have to wait long to get it.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on April 16, 2020 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
