Thor: Love and Thunder star Tessa Thompson posed for an iconic photoshoot with her stunt double, Tara Macken, from the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

Thor: Love and Thunder picks up right after the events of Avengers: Endgame and follows Chris Hemsworth's titular God of Thunder. Throughout the duration of the movie, Thor is on a quest for self-discovery and inner peace, wishing to take a step back from the huge responsibility of constantly saving the world. Yet, the God of Thunder's plans are quickly demolished by a vicious, galactic killer named Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale). Gorr the God Butcher has an innate desire to be the one to commit mass genocide against the gods. His desire to see the entire population of the gods go extinct derives from a brutal personal betrayal and the death of his daughter. Luckily, Thor doesn’t have to go against the resentful, bitter Gorr the God Butcher all by himself. He enlists Thompson's King Valkyrie, Korg (Taika Waititi), and finally his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), now referred to as the Mighty Thor, in order to help him defeat Gorr.

Thompson made her first official introduction into the MCU as Valkyrie with her performance in Thor: Ragnarok. Thompson's Valkyrie is one of the last warrior goddesses of Asgard still standing. The rest of her pack was devastatingly killed while battling Hela, the Asgardian Goddess of Death (portrayed by Cate Blanchett in Ragnarok), many moons ago. From there, Valkyrie was quickly crowned the King of New Asgard by Thor himself at the very end of Avengers: Endgame. Now, new photos shared via Thor: Love and Thunder News on Twitter offer a brand new behind-the-scenes look at Thompson posing with her stunt double, Macken, in Valkyrie's latest MCU adventure. The pair are both dawning Valkyrie costumes in the three images.

Thor: Love and Thunder shows Thompson's iconic MCU hero at odds with her newfound sense of power, grappling and struggling to maintain balance while having the weight of her entire city on her back. When Thor finally arrives seeking her help, Thompson is also begging for her glory days as a warrior back, reminiscing back on it fondly like childhood. In one photo, both Thompson and Macken tap into that by adopting a warrior-like power stance pose, showing off their muscular arms, paired with stoic, silently powerful expressions worn on their faces.

In the final image, the two seem to give fans a preview of their off-screen relationship and friendship, posing all silly in the mirror together - all grins and peace signs. These photos also prove just how startling good of a double Macken is in terms of embodying Thomspon's physicality and mannerisms. Valkyrie receives a fair amount of intense action scenes throughout Thor: Love and Thunder, so it’s no wonder Thompson and her stunt double developed such a close relationship - on and off set.

Thor: Love and Thunder is now playing in theaters.
