'Thor: God of Thunder' Screens Bring the Hammer Home

New Thor God of Thunder Screens

New screens have released for the upcoming movie tie-in title Thor: God of Thunder that feature some of the larger-than-life bosses that the eponymous superhero will face throughout the game.

Though the first trailer gave a brief tease as to what gameplay will look like in Thor: God of Thunder, these screens are much more about showcasing the amount of detail that is going into the level and character design.

Developed by Liquid Entertainment, a capable studio who has handled such properties as Dungeons and Dragons and Lord of the Rings, this title seeks to separate itself from previous unsuccessful Marvel movie tie-ins by telling a unique story independent from the video game.

Enemies and locales might bare some resemblance in certain situations, but, for the most part, this is its own video game.

In the feature film, Thor will spending the bulk of his time on Earth trying to work out his squabble between his father, but this video game seems to be all Asgard all the time. Fans of the Marvel comic book or Norse mythology in general will be pleased to know that the game’s storyline is rooted in Thor’s quest to vanquish classic foes from the various realms of Asgard.

For those who might have pegged Thor as their most anticipated summer movie, fear not as there are still some elements from the movie that will be making their way into the game, namely the voices of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston).

With the film set to hit theaters on May 6th and this video game set to release three days earlier on the 3rd, there is going to be plenty of God of Thunder action with which to kick off your summer. Our only hope is that the game captures the essence of Thor, the awesome hammer-wielding god, and leaves out all of what makes movie tie-in games bad.
