Notes from a confidential August meeting between Sega and Sony Computer Entertainment America made their way online via Sega of America's FTP site they caontained plenty of tidbits of interesting information.

One of which is a mention of the Thor movie tie-in video game to go along with the Iron Man 2 game we already know is in development.

Thor

SCEA would like a look at the code soon.

This isn't surprising news as we know Sega has a deal with Marvel to make games based on their slate of movies. Unfortunately for fans, the last two tie-in games they made - The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man - were horrendous.

On the flip side, last month our friends at Joystiq spoke with Marvel Executive Vice President of Global Digital Media Group, Ira Rubenstein, who adamantly claimed that Marvel is done making "crappy"  movie-based games.

"We are not doing movie-based games anymore... Actually, wait ... we are not doing crappy movie-based games anymore. You can quote me on that."

At least they realize that. It's such an awful trend in the industry ever since console gaming hit it mainstream to see the business mentality of sheer quantity over quality in these branded titles from big-name developers.  It's an entertainment art form with a high ticket, we deserve better.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine was a bright spot against this trend this year for games based on comic book movies and it was vastly superior than the movie (is this the first time?) so I hope Thor can at least be as great as that.

What do you think about Marvel's claim and about the Thor game?
