Any horror fans who have counted Netflix out when it comes to good spooky content might want to rethink that when they see the trailer for a new horror film coming very soon. Titled There's Someone Inside Your House, the trailer promises a terrifyingly good time.

Netflix has had a rocky road with its original content, specifically in the horror genre. Some works have shot to roaring success, like the recent Fear Street trilogy. Others have crashed and burned, like The Open House. While it's not out yet so it's certainly too hard to tell, the new project There's Someone Inside Your House looks like it will certainly leave an impression.

Based on a best-selling novel by Stephanie Perkins, the slasher film is said to follow a teenager named Manaki who has moved to a new town for her senior year of high school. However, she and her classmates become the target of a gruesome murderer who seems intent on exposing everyone's secrets. There's Someone Inside Your House is directed by Patrick Brice, who is best known for his work on the very popular found-footage horror film Creep, which also streams on Netflix. There are also some big names attached as producers, with Shawn Levy and James Wan involved. Levy is known for producing Netflix's extremely popular series Stranger Things, while Wan has made huge moves in the horror world. He's created three of the most successful horror franchises of the 21st century in Saw, Insidious, and The Conjuring. The latter of which has gone on to become the most successful horror series of all time.

There's Someone Inside Your House echoes a lot of similar trends and themes seen in modern slasher movies, based on what's seen so far anyway. The trailer shows a really vibrant color palette and seems to have a bit of a throwback tone, with some strong 1980s and 1990s vibes. This was also seen in the Fear Street trilogy, which of course brought in a lot of success and was seen as a revitalization of the genre, much like Scream was in 1996.

The nostalgia factor seems to work really well for the horror genre, and the trailer for There's Someone Inside Your House certainly seems to play on that. It also looks to be quite scary, with a mystery and some potentially gruesome kills. Hopefully, this one can be another horror win for Netflix, it definitely looks promising.

There's Someone Inside Your House will be streaming worldwide on Netflix on October 6, 2021
