Yesterday, a tease from Telltale seemed to indicate that a follow-up to The Wolf Among Us might be in development. However, it now seems that's not the case — and indeed, the studio doesn't seem to have any plans to elaborate on the first series' conclusion even if there is a sequel.

Speculation about The Wolf Among Us started to flare up when Adam Harrington, who portrayed protagonist Bigby, retweeted Telltale's tease. However, as noted in Game Rant's coverage of the story, the actor has also taken on roles in several other projects released by the studio, including Guardians of the Galaxy.

Telltale's Head of Creative Communications, Job J. Stauffer, took to Twitter to sympathize with fans who had got their hopes up for a return to the Fables universe. It seems that the company would love to work with the property once again, but there are no plans to do so at this time.

Earlier this year, Telltale designers answered questions submitted by fans as part of an AMA for a subreddit devoted to The Walking Dead. At that time, Stauffer revealed that even if a second season of The Wolf Among Us was commissioned, the studio wouldn't want to give any definitive answers about the way that the first game ended.

"Should we ever continue in the world of Fables and The Wolf Among Us," wrote Stauffer. "It is generally agreed upon here that we wouldn't continue that storyline directly, and would leave things an open mystery that's better left unanswered."

So there you have it — even though the fans and the studio are both eager for more of Telltale's take on Fables, it doesn't seem like it's coming any time soon. And even if the sequel does get the greenlight, don't expect it to pick up where the first season left off. Meanwhile, it seems that Telltale's next project will be a return to Gotham City.

The Wolf Among Us is available now for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and iOS.
