As big and ambitious as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's world is, its characters and moment-to-moment interactions are consistently interesting. One of the most popular characters from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is Yennefer of Vengerberg, with one fan showing off a cosplay that combines her many looks.
Yennefer is one of the leading female figures of The Witcher series. Despite being Geralt of Rivia's true love, who he would do anything for, Yennefer is no damsel and can take care of herself just fine. Typically dressed in mage's wear as black as her hair, Yennefer is as intimidating as she is a powerful sorceress, having helped Geralt on many of his quests. The game and Netflix series' depictions of Yennefer do have their differences though, like the show's depiction of the darker side of her personality.
Redditor u/MichelleNReed posted the latest version of her stunning Yennefer cosplay. Based on Reed's outfit, it seems her depiction of Yennefer is that of her The Witcher 3 design. The level of detail on display here is incredible, with Reed's outfit including the fur collar of Yennefer's jacket, and even the subtle embroidery that composes its fabric. Successfully replicating the intricacies of a character design is always impressive.
Many fans in the comments of the post point out how Reed resembles Anya Chalotra, the actress who plays Yennefer in the Netflix show. Although Reed does not specify which incarnation of Yennefer she is cosplaying as—just simply portraying Yennefer—these comments touch upon a bonus aspect that not many cosplayers have: natural likeness. In this way it seems that Reed was destined to cosplay Yennefer, becoming her in thanks to her outfit design and facial features.
This is not the first time that Reed has cosplayed as Yennefer. Scrolling through Reed's Instagram, different iterations of Yennefer can be found, like her in a striking white overcoat, and one of Yennefer surrounded in smoke. While these portraits may not be as accurate to Yennefer as Reed's latest post, it is nonetheless still incredible seeing the evolution of Reed's cosplay in general. As The Witcher's world and lore continue to expand, it will be exciting to see the potential new designs for Yeneffer cosplays.
With the recently announced WitcherCon coming July 9, and the growing anticipation for Season 2 of the Netflix show, fans will certainly be getting their share of new Witcher content very soon, meaning much more cosplay to come.
