One of the biggest events in The Witcher books is going to be arriving on the Netflix series, just not in the very near future. In fact, it turns out that season 2 of The Witcher only continued to set up the arrival of the Wild Hunt in much the same way that Avengers movies set up the eventual appearance of Thanos. In the lore of The Witcher, the Wild Hunt is a very powerful happening or entity, and the rest of the people and creatures in that particular world are not able to stand in its path. The Wild Hunt was first mentioned in season 1 and allusions to its arrival will continued in season 2, but The Witcher showrunners are working on increasing the buildup just a little bit longer, with the payoff coming sometime in the future.RELATED: First The Witcher Season 2 Music Track Is Out And It's Not Kanye WestThe Witcher showrunner and executive producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich recently spoke to IGN at a press junket for the Netflix original show and added a bit of context to what she and her team have planned for the Wild Hunt. That included continuing to have it be more of a looming threat that is talked about and hinted at, rather than an imminent one. "We wanted to make sure we mentioned the Wild Hunt in season one, for instance,” she said. “It's in the pilot, so that we can say ‘We hear you fans, we know that this is a big deal.’ The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, it's what the fans know."Henry Cavill Geralt fighting The Witcher season 2 Hissrich who has a plan that would include seven seasons if Henry Cavill is willing to stick with The Witcher that long, made it clear that while the Wild Hunt may not be arriving in season 2, the show will go into more detail about what it entails. She said that so far, the creatures involved in the Wild Hunt are a kind of skeletal evil that's hinted at. Season 2 fleshed them out and really explained where they come from and what they want, setting the stage for their arrival. The showrunner said there's a dual reason for introducing the talk about the Wild Hunt so early. Certainly, there's a way to build up the big villain in the books and now the show, but Hissrich also wanted to make sure fans knew her team understand what's important to them. That also means they are also introducing a ton of new characters from the books to The Witcher season 2. However, Hissrich added that while the Wild Hunt is important to the fans and she understands that, she's not ready to get to it, at least not yet.The Witcher season 2 is now available on Netflix.MORE: 7 Fantasy Shows To Watch If You Loved Netflix's Shadow And BoneSource: IGN
