While the production of Netflix's The Witcher just wrapped up its shooting for season 3, it appears that producers are going to start working on the next two seasons in the very near future. In fact, one report says that when season 4 of The Witcher goes into production it will be immediately followed, both in writing and shooting, by season 5.

Writing for both The Witcher season 4 and season 5 is reportedly going to be kicking off soon as well. That actually tracks with how people behind the popular Netflix series have worked, as the writers were mapping out the scripts for The Witcher season 3 just three months after season 2 had wrapped production.

The website Redanian Intelligence pointed out that working on the production of two seasons for a show, especially one with the production value and difficulty of The Witcher, can be quite gruelling. However, this kind of endeavor has been done before and not all that long ago. The streaming platform especially has some experience having its original shows do this kind of thing. Vikings: Valhalla reportedly shot all three of its seasons back-to-back-to-back with just a couple of months of break in between each season.

Geralt of Rivia And Yennefer of Vengerberg In Netflix's The Witcher

There are, of course, some big benefits to the series working at this apparent breakneck pace. Its star, Henry Cavill, is an in-demand actor and while he's often talked about seeing The Witcher to its conclusion, there is something to be said for knowing that shooting five seasons of a show like this isn't going to be spread over several years. It would certainly make scheduling other projects just a little bit easier. It might also allow him to better judge just how much he wants to work outside of playing Geralt.

There is another bit of an upside when it comes to planning to do the Netflix series the way the producers are apparently shooting for in the near future. If things need to take a pause for one reason or another, there's the flexibility to do that without completely ruining the plans for when season 4 and season 5 hit Netflix.

Just how everything is going to go down for season 3, season 4, and season 5 could be revealed at Netflix's Tudum event. The streamer has teased that at least something is coming for The Witcher fans, now it's just a matter of how many details it drops.

The Witcher seasons 1-2 are now available on Netflix.
