The Witcher Netflix Series just wrapped up its first season, which has become an unprecedented success for the streaming platform. Its second season is tentatively planned for release in 2021, allowing Netflix to ramp up production for an even bigger and better story. Despite being about a year off, Netflix is already finalizing some of The Witcher season two's final details. Most recently, Netflix has confirmed the final list of directors who will be running The Witcher season two's individual episodes.

As previously announced, both Ed Bazalgette and Sarah O'Gorman will be directors involved with The Witcher season 2. Ed Bazalgette is best known for his work on the shows Doctor Who and Netflix's The Last Kingdom. Sarah O'Gormon is largely known for UK-based TV shows, but is also working on the upcoming Netflix show Cursed. A third director, Stephen Surjik, has been associated with the new season as well. Surjik is known for work on Netflix's The Umbrella Academy, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, and Lost in Space.

According to Redanian Intelligence, The Witcher's fourth director for season two has now been decided. It will be Emmy-nominated director Geeta Patel. Patel has a diverse range of experience. She's perhaps best known for the documentary/comedy she made with her brother named Meet the Patels. However, she's also directed episodes for an impressive list of shows, including Fresh Off the Boat, The Mindy Project, Champions, Superstore, Chambers, Marvel's Runaways, and The Magicians.

The Witcher's first season is just eight episodes long, which is assumed to be the length of season two, too. With four directors, it's possible if not likely that each will be directing two episodes each. It's also possible that one director may get three to another director's one, like how Alik Sakharov directed three episodes in season one. But given how much more schedule-limited season two will be, the work seems more likely to be spread evenly.

Production for season 2 of The Witcher reportedly begins on February 17 and will last through August. That leaves a lot of room for post-production, to be sure. With The Witcher's second season still planned to release in 2021, perhaps Netflix just wants to make the most of the spring and summer weather for filming and then save the show to capitalize on a specific productive release window. Whatever Netflix's reason, the wait is going to be unbearable for some fans.

The Witcher is available to watch now exclusively on Netflix.
