Update 3/7: Natalie Dormer's representatives have denied the rumors that she has been cast in The Witcher season 2. Original story follows.

Filming on The Witcher season 2 is well underway, with the show already announcing most of its new cast members, including Game of Thrones alum Kristofer Hivju as Nivellan. However, a new rumor suggests that Hivju won't be the only former Game of Thrones star to appear in The Witcher season 2, as a new report suggests Natalie Dormer may have also joined the cast.

For the uninitiated, Natalie Dormer is best known for her role as Margaery Tyrell in Game of Thrones - a role that earned her two Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations. Dormer has also appeared in a variety of other television projects and film, and she would no doubt be a significant addition to the cast.

The report of her possible casting comes from The Witcher news site Redanian Intelligence. It notes that fans should take it with a grain of salt, but basically the rumor comes from a crew member posting to social media: "When you remember every day is basically a Saturday on The Witcher. Bring [redacted crew member's name] and Natalie Dormer laughing, dancing and riding horses!" Dormer had previously been spotted riding a horse in Surrey with a Witcher crew member, and Surrey just so happens to be a filming location for The Witcher season 2.

Now, even though Dormer definitely appears to be socializing with The Witcher crewmembers, it doesn't mean that she's actually involved in the production herself. It's possible that Dormer was simply visiting with friends, not to mention she may be too busy with her main cast role in Penny Dreadful: City of Angels to appear in The Witcher season 2. Considering this, fans shouldn't get too excited just yet.

In the meantime, The Witcher season 2 has already cast most of its major roles. Most recently, it announced the casting of Kim Bodnia as Vesemir, a role that was previously rumored to be going to Mark Hamill. Vesemir is quite easily one of the most anticipated new characters for fans to see in The Witcher season 2, and it will be interesting to see what his stories are in the upcoming season.

Unfortunately, fans of the Netflix series have quite some time to wait before they can see Vesemir in action. The Witcher season 2 premieres in 2021, so it may be a year or so before fans are able to watch new episodes.

The Witcher is available to stream now, exclusively on Netflix.
