With the release of Netflix's The Witcher series on the horizon, the streaming service company has recently been giving fans a close look at what the show has to offer. There has been official images of Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer, and Roach released, and, most recently, the official Netflix Witcher trailer showed Henry Cavill in action as the Witcher Geralt. Now, Netflix has released a new official image, and it offers a first look at Triss Merigold, the fan-favorite Temerian sorceress and potential LI of Geralt in the video game.

Triss Merigold is being played by Anna Schafer, who is best known for her roles in The Whistleblower (2010), Father of Invention (2010), and Always Woodstock (2014). Notably, Anna Schafer's take on Triss captures the thickness of her hair, but many fans of The Witcher may not be happy to see that her hair isn't the bright red that Triss's is known for. It's worth mentioning, however, that this full series is more based on the books than the video games.

In the books, Triss's hair is primarily described as a "chestnut" color, with Schafer's hair, as seen below, perfectly matching that exact color. There is one point in the books where her hair is briefly described as ginger, with the implication that her chestnut hair has a slight red tint to it in the light, and this may have been the reason that CD Projekt Red turned Triss into a redhead in The Witcher game series.

Regardless, Triss's hair color isn't the first time that the Netflix adaptation has seemingly diverged from the video games. For example, when Netflix released the first official Witcher poster, many were asking why Geralt only had one sword, as opposed to the two that he carries in-game. A Witcher only uses the silver sword to battle monsters, and, in the books, it remains on Roach the majority of the time, which is implied to be the case in the Netflix series as well.

The exact release date for Netflix's The Witcher hasn't been revealed as of yet, but a recent leak suggested that it will begin in December. The same leak has also suggested that the show has already been approved for a second season, but until Netflix makes an official announcement, this is best taken with a grain of salt.

The Witcher premieres on Netflix later this year.
