It has been known for some time now that Henry Cavill, the actor who played Superman in the DCEU, would be playing Geralt of Rivia in the forthcoming Netflix series, The Witcher. However, outside of some of Geralt's scars, Cavill's depiction of the Witcher, the adoptive father of Ciri, the White Wolf, and the Butcher of Blaviken, hasn't really been seen. Now, the official Netflix series has decided to reveal the world's first look at Henry Cavill as Geralt.

Not only did Netflix's The Witcher reveal stills of Cavill as Geralt (alongside an impressive poster stating, "the worst monsters are the ones we create"), but the forthcoming adaptation also revealed perhaps the other two most important characters: Ciri, as portrayed by Freya Allan, and Yennefer, as portrayed by Anya Chalotra. Allan has previously appeared in a number of shorts and as Young Minvera in the Into the Badlands TV Mini-Series.

Chalotra has also played a number of roles such as Jennifer Ashman in Wanderlust, Lily Marbury in the ABC Murders, and Robin Loxley in Sherwood. Their names may not be as big as Cavill's, but they play equally huge roles in the forthcoming Witcher Netflix series. It's unknown when the official The Witcher release date is, when an official trailer will drop, or even when more character stills will be revealed, but considering the series is set to release in late 2019, it should be soon.

The likeliest time for more to be learned will be at Comic-Con during Netflix's The Witcher panel on July 19. What is exactly set to be revealed remains to be seen, but any of the aforementioned options sound possible. Another role that has potentially been revealed ahead of time is that of Geralt's Horse, Roach, as Cavill recently posted a suspicious image of himself with a horse.

Whether that horse proves to be Roach or not is still in the air, but thanks to these images of Cavill's Geralt, Allan's Ciri, and Chalotra's Yennefer, the hype train for The Witcher series may now be in full motion. The real question is now whether or not the show lives up to said hype.

The Witcher is currently in production at Netflix.
