There's no doubt that The Witcher franchise has firmly cemented itself into the collective consciousness of gamers around the globe, especially now that a Netflix series is on the way following CD Projekt Red's release of the franchise's third entry, Wild Hunt, back in 2015. Now, it looks as if the action-RPG property's protagonist Geralt of Rivia could be stepping out of The Witcher world in a different way and walking into the realm of Bandai Namco's fighting game SoulCalibur 6 as a guest character later this year.

As seen in the tweet below from CD Projekt Red's community lead Marcin Momot, the developer hints that The Witcher's Geralt is set to "make an appearance in one of the upcoming games later this year," leading many to speculate that it would be as a character in SoulCalibur 6. What's more is that a recent report published today by Let's Play Video Games has stated it received a tip from anonymous sources a few weeks ago saying that Geralt will be included in the next numbered entry in the Bandai Namco fighting game franchise.

While the tweet from CD Projekt Red's Momot and the report from Let's Play Video Games will surely get fans excited to see The Witcher's Geralt in SoulCalibur 6, it's important to remain skeptical until all of the evidence is in to confirm as much. Nevertheless, Geralt's inclusion in the roster of the forthcoming fighting game would be a great fit, as his weaponry and supernatural skill set would serve him well against opponents like Mitsurugi, Sophitia, Ivy, Zasalamel, and others.

Taking all of this into consideration, there's really no telling at this point in time if Geralt will take leave of The Witcher world to appear in SoulCalibur 6, as Bandai Namco could be considering completely different guest characters altogether. After all, a SoulCalibur 6 guest roster leak for PS4 and Xbox One has intimated that the former platform will have a Bloodborne figure as a visiting fighter, while the latter console will include a Killer Instinct brawler.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and SoulCalibur 6 will launch in 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
