The latest chapter in the saga that is people having issues with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt continues. However, this time around, it's not a problem with the game itself, and not one that can be easily fixed with a quick patch.

Ever since the game's launch, the PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions of the open-world RPG have had several similar problems, ranging from small text to players not earning experience, but developer CD Projekt RED has been quick to reassure fans that fixes were coming, as well as getting the updates out as soon as possible. That said, the PC version of The Witcher 3 is the version to play, provided that option is even available, though that isn't to say playing on consoles is the "worst" idea - the game is great, regardless.

But while issues within the game itself may have prevented people from enjoying it, or even progressing, people could still launch it and hope things went smoothly. That isn't the case this time, as a brand new issue people are running into, specifically Xbox One players, is preventing them from even running the game at all.

Both Reddit and CD Projekt's own forums are filled with people concerned about what is stopping them from launching their digital copies of The Witcher 3, and this "Error 0x87de2726" that pops up whenever they try. The answer given so far is that it's the result of a licensing issue, but what suddenly caused it is unknown - the game's been out for two weeks, after all.

And while it's good to know the source of the problem isn't something too dramatic, it's certainly another blow to the Xbox One version of the game, which is no stranger to having problems of its own.

Fortunately, Microsoft took to the aforementioned Reddit thread to make it known that they're aware of the problem, and have also updated the Xbox Live Status page, where it's made perfectly clear that The Witcher 3 is the game that's been affected.

Are you unable to launch or install The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt? We’re working to address this ASAP! Thanks for staying patient. We’ll fill you in as soon as we know more.

An ETA for whatever solution Microsoft is working on hasn't been given yet, but hopefully it will soon. Since there's a lot going on with Geralt and co. in Wild Hunt, it'd be unfortunate if anyone had to try to get back into it after an extended period of time. We'll have to wait and see if it comes before the next big patch that addresses the previously mentioned small text and XP bug.

Outside of the Xbox One players, how has The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt been working for everyone else? Any bets this licensing issue comes to the PS4?
