The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt gets a new trailer showing off all the new features coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game. The Witcher 3 launched to critical acclaim in 2015, and many players consider it to be one of the best open-world games of the previous generation.

CD Projekt Red had announced that The Witcher 3 will get a free next-generation upgrade for owners of the base game. This version was delayed a few times, but the developer recently confirmed that The Witcher 3 will launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on December 14. It has now released a new trailer that highlights some key features of this next-gen upgrade.

The video almost works like a story trailer for the game, as it introduces various plot threads from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its expansions. This is followed by small glimpses of footage from Geralt’s adventures, before highlighting the key upgrades present in this version. The trailer confirms that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will have support for a 60 FPS mode, ray-tracing features, and 4K textures as well as models on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The next-gen version of The Witcher 3 comes with a photo mode and support for cloud saves. It also mentions that the gameplay will see improvements, although the details of the enhancements are not shared in the trailer. The video mainly focuses on the story of Geralt and Ciri, and the various characters they meet in the game.

The upgraded version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt looks beautiful, but a side-by-side comparison would probably do a better job of highlighting the differences. It looks like The Witcher 3 will come with two modes, offering gamers a choice between 4K visuals and 60 FPS gameplay. The Witcher 3 on PS4 and Xbox One also suffered from extremely long loading times, so fans can expect to see improvements in this area due to the SSDs present in PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Apart from this next-generation upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Project Red has announced that more games in the Witcher series are currently in development. This list includes the next major saga in the series as well as a full remake of The Witcher. The developer has also confirmed that both the next Witcher game and the remake of the original will run on Unreal Engine 5.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions launching on December 14.
