At yesterday's E3 2019 Nintendo Direct, Nintendo confirmed a longstanding rumor that has been circulating about CD Projekt Red's highly acclaimed open world RPG, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Specifically, it was officially revealed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be releasing on Nintendo Switch before the end of 2019, and while this news is certain to be exciting to many fans, some may be curious about the more technical aspects of The Witcher Switch port.

Namely, some fans are certain to be wondering about what resolution The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Switch port will run at, and there is now word on this matter. As per the the official The Witcher Twitter account, it seems as though fans can expect The Witcher 3 Switch resolution to be at 540p, when playing in handheld mode, and at 720p, with dynamic resolution enabled, when docked. As many are likely to have expected, this means that the game's visuals are going to take a hit with The Witcher 3 Switch port.

Additionally, it has been revealed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for Switch will have a file size of approximately 32 GB, which is quite impressive considering that this covers not only the base game, but all of The Witcher 3 DLC and expansions as well. For reference, this content takes up approximately 50 GB for those that have The Witcher 3 PC version installed, which may leave some asking about what compromises, beyond resolution, have been made for the port.

Indeed, time will tell how things like loading times and sound quality have been impacted by the translation of The Witcher 3 to Switch, and while confirmed resolutions begin to give an idea of what The Witcher 3 Switch gameplay will be like, there is still much to be learned. Hopefully for those that are most excited about the port, more of these details will be made available in the very near future.

The E3 2019 Nintendo Direct was packed to the gills with tons of new details on previously announced title as well as a slew of surprising game announcements. While the announcement of The Witcher 3 Switch was not the most surprising, due to the aforementioned rumors, it is certainly nice to have an official confirmation of the port.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Nintendo Switch version releasing 2019.
