In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, there are few tools in the arsenal of the titular monster hunter that are as effective as Signs. Used alongside potions and swords to take down humans and monsters alike, one fan of The Witcher 3 has paid tribute to the game’s lineup of Signs.

While there are some Witcher Signs that are not used in the games, The Witcher 3 features a solid lineup of five special abilities. For those unfamiliar with Signs, they are minor spells that Witchers can cast to get a leg up in a fight. While they are not nearly as effective as the magic wielded by a sorceress like Yennefer, they can get the job done against many of the creatures a Witcher will need to fight. They are also activated by drawing a specific symbol in the air, which is where they get their name.

The five Signs Geralt spells out in The Witcher 3 are Quen, Aard, Igni, Yrden, and Axii. Quen is essentially a shield, and it can be extremely useful on the game’s Death March difficulty. Aard is a blast of wind and Igni is a blast of fire. Yrden is a magic trap that helps Geralt fight fast-moving specters, while Axii is a confusion spell often used in dialogue. All these signs were captured in a memorable tattoo, with Reddit user MightyBatberg showing off the art.

Each Sign looks incredible, as the tattoo is incredibly colorful. The artist was sure to match the colors in the background with each spell’s designated color. For example, Axii’s backdrop is blue, with the tattoo seen on top of the others. Next up is the purple Yrden spell, with the magic trap followed up with the green Aard. The red Igni is up next, mimicking the fire that flies from Geralt’s hand. Finally, the orange shield Quen is represented with a matching section near the wrist of the Witcher 3 fan.

Intriguingly, the fan did not order the Signs by what they prefer to use in-game. In the comments, they confirm that they are primarily an Igni user, though the Sign still finds itself near the bottom of the lineup. Instead, the player seems to have organized them by matching colors, and given how good the tattoo turned out, it is hard to blame them. With over 4,000 upvotes and dozens of positive comments, those interested in The Witcher franchise clearly appreciate the colorful tattoo.

While The Witcher 3 cosplay and art posts may be more common ways to show appreciation, it is great to see something as unique as MightyBatberg’s post. With this fan clearly loving the Signs of The Witcher universe, hopefully the next game in the series features plenty of Signs for its players to make use of.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
