A truly massive game, The Witcher 3 has countless secrets to discover. Released back in 2015, gamers have been exploring the open-world of the Continent for years. Nevertheless, even after investing over 600 hours into the game, one player uncovers a rare Troll for their first time after multiple playthroughs.

It's amazing to see that players are continuing to discover new things in The Witcher 3 this long after release. As with many other open-world games, there always seems to be something left to explore.

After exploring one region of The Witcher 3's map known as Velen, a Reddit user named RogueRequest2 discovered a small camp near a stream. To their surprise, the humble abode belonged to a Rock Troll named Boris. After saving Boris from a group of Nekkers, the player managed to have a pleasant conversation with the Troll. After noticing a cauldron full of some sort of oozing concoction, they asked the Troll what it was cooking and hoped that it didn't include humans. Boris replied that he liked the "gibber" of men and found it fascinating. Once this lengthy conversation with the surprisingly hospitable creature came to an end, the player was rewarded with the head of an elf for being kind.

RogueRequest2 gave some background on finding the rare Rock Troll. They noted that this was already their third playthrough of the game this year. In an attempt to make as many discoveries as possible, they decided to use New Game Plus for the playthrough in which they found Boris. Using New Game Plus allowed them to keep most of their gear collected from previous playthroughs.

This is one of a collection of Troll encounters scattered throughout the world. While some of the creatures are aggressive, others, such as Boris, will actually converse with the player. According to RogueRequest2, the encounter posted on Reddit is from a quest called "Harassing a Troll." With such a wide world full of numerous NPCs to interact, this is just one of many different rare encounters found in The Witcher 3.

This post has become popular with the Reddit community, as it now has gained over 4,100 upvotes. Many users commented about the difficulty of understanding what the troll is saying due to its heavy accent and the video's lack of subtitles. Others noted that after multiple playthroughs, they still hadn't met this particular Troll.

With the head of the elf now in their possession, it will be interesting what RogueRequest2 finds next in their journeys through the game.

The Witcher 3 is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
