From cosplays to sword replicas, there is no limit to the ways for fans of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to express their love of the game. One fan decided to combine their love of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with manga, creating a series of fascinating and imaginative character sketches.

The Witcher 3 is an action RPG developed by CD Projekt Red and based on the fantasy novel series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski. Set in a fantasy world heavily based on Slavonic mythology, the game tasks the player with hunting down and defeating fearsome monsters as Geralt of Rivia, the titular Witcher. Since the game's release, the series has only grown more popular, with new projects appearing in a variety of formats, like Netflix's The Witcher show, spin-off games, and an entire convention known as WitcherCon.

Reddit user jabami1234567890 recently uploaded a series of manga-styled sketches featuring some of The Witcher 3's most popular characters. While mangakas can obviously stylize their artwork however they like, a common trait across all styles is the heavy contrast in the darks and lights of the page, using heavy blacks for shadowing or dark colors, and shading to fill in the rest. This is evident in the focus of the piece, the center-framed Ciri, who in the foreground has very little strong black linework, only some shading on her legs and hair, while the background is swirling with dark lines. Ciri is one of The Witcher 3's most popular characters, so it is unsurprising to see her in abundance here.

Ciri is not the only featured character in jabami's sketches though. The left margin includes an incredible portrait of Yennefer, as well as some poses of Geralt, in addition to a beautiful near-profile drawing of Ciri. Conversely, the right margin seems a bit more experimental and reminiscent of manga, one image being a study of Ciri's legs while walking with multiple viewpoints, and another being a dual image of a back-to Geralt and forward-facing Ciri, split in half like panels on a manga page. A final neat detail is that jabami draws Geralt in two different armor sets in these images, of the many different cool costumes available in The Witcher 3.

Jabami's drawings come at an incredible time with the announcement of an official manga, The Witcher: Ronin, at last month's WitcherCon. The manga reimagines Geralt as a monster-slayer in Japan, hunting a whole new series of monsters, and being swept into Japanese folk tales. It was announced alongside a new Netflix animated movie, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, set to premiere on August 23rd. Hopefully, these projects are successful so that more genre mashups can be made.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions in development.
