CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3 is often considered to be one of the best RPGs of all time, with fans citing its vast open world, depth of story, and intricate side quests as main factors. On top of these elements, the game's characters come with distinctive designs that are steeped in rich fantasy concepts, with the main antagonists, known as the Wild Hunt, evoking a palpable sense of dread as they stalk the continent for Ciri. A cosplay of General Caranthir, one of The Wild Hunt's most feared warriors, has managed to capture The Witcher 3 design impeccably, with a slight twist.

General Caranthir is one of Eredin's most trusted members of The Wild Hunt, who seek Ciri for her Elder Blood, and ability to travel through interdimensional portals. General Caranthir is a powerful elven mage and acts as a navigator for the Wild Hunt, allowing them to travel through gates to track down their targets. Caranthir is one of the main bosses in The Witcher 3, and nearly drowns Geralt of Rivia with his dying breath, by teleporting the two of them into the deep ocean.

Posted to reddit, an incredible cosplay of General Caranthir shows the softer side of the Golden Child, with the navigator holding an orange tabby cat in his arms as if it were his child. Performed by DeviantArt cosplayer Alberti, the detail of this Witcher 3 cosplay is incredible. The armor is almost indistinguishable from The Witcher 3 version, with an enormous amount of detail put into capturing the various textures and components of General Caranthir's apparel. The skeletal visage of Caranthir is adorned with his signature helmet, and the finish on the armor gives it the sheen of real metal.

More importantly, the cat depicted looks to be having a good time, held tenderly by the Wild Hunt General and seemingly waving to the camera. While Alberti's slightly less serious cosplay of The Witcher 3 character has been garnering attention, she also has a number of other photographs depicting Caranthir in a way more in-keeping with his in-game design. The various images, taken by photographer Eugeny Nakryshsky, use incredible effects to bring the character to life, with the General's powerful staff lit up with magic and a number of different locations used as backdrops.

The ability to create a truly accurate cosplay is one thing, but taking it to the next level with visual effects, and a bit of humor, can really make a cosplay memorable. Alberti does a wonderful job of capturing The Witcher 3 boss with her fearsome posing in many of the images, but manages to also inject some personality and originality into the depiction as well. While a sequel to The Witcher 3 is far off, the ongoing Netflix series and possible spinoff titles will surely keep cosplayers busy for years to come.

The Witcher 3 is available now on PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions expected later this year.
