The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt may be an open-world action RPG, but it has a ton of romance too. The main character, Geralt, can't seem to help but draw the attention of women wherever he goes, and the player always has the option to indulge or push them away. Whether Geralt is going to be faithful to one woman or go where the wind takes him is entirely up to the player. Of course, before players decide upon a particular course of action to take, the least they can do is meet and interact with the characters!

The Witcher: 10 Facts You Didn’t Know About Geralt
With a new Witcher series coming to Netflix, what better time to brush up on your Geralt knowledge? Here's what you might not know about him.

There are many characters that Geralt can engage in some amorous activities in The Witcher 3. These characters are all pretty entertaining to interact with, and it's easy to see why players love the incredible writing present in this game. People genuinely become invested in the stories of these characters as they enjoy some wonderful interactions with the many romance options in the game, even if only two of them have any meaningful consequences in the long run.

Updated on October 13, 2023, by Ritwik Mitra: The Witcher 3 is one of the most beloved RPGs of all time, catapulting CD Projekt Red's name to the highest levels of superstardom and allowing players to experience a wonderful story that ends Geralt's journey on a pretty high and satisfying note. There are many activities that players can access in the game's vast world, including a bunch of romances and affairs that are pretty fun to trigger in their own right. Some of the characters that Geralt can sleep with end up being one-time affairs, while others govern the ending that players will enjoy after helping Ciri fulfill her destiny.

Special Mention: The Brothels

Crippled Kate's Brothel From The Witcher 3

In Novigrad, there are three brothels: Passiflora, Crippled Kate's, and Rosemary & Thyme. The Blood & Wine expansion adds a new brothel in the game, called The Belles of Beauclair. Players can pay crowns for Geralt to sleep with women, with Passiflora being the slightly more expensive option. It's one of the many activities that players can engage with in The Witcher 3.

These are ranked very low because they literally offer nothing except some steamy interactions for Geralt. So sure, if the player's goal is to get all the intimacy they can in the game, then they should go for it. However, they don't add anything to the story and will take away crowns Geralt may need for something later, so the general advice is to only go for these encounters if players are really desperate to do every single thing available in the game.

7 Madame Sasha

The Witcher 3 Madame Sasha

Players need to be good at Gwent for this romance option. Gwent is pretty divisive as it is — some players avoid the game, and some are determined to master it. If Geralt completes Gwent: High Stakes, Madame Sasha will boldly ask for half the winnings. It's a tall order but if players want the romance scene, then they'll have to fork over the cash. Again, this is costing crowns for a character that doesn't do much for the story.

If nothing else, it's great that players are rewarded with an intimate scene at the end of a quest where they had to refine their Gwent skills quite a bit. Of course, some players might miss out on this romance altogether since they don't care about Gwent at all.

6 Jutta an Dimun

The Witcher 3 Jutta

Jutta doesn't offer anything for the story either, but her personal story is a pretty interesting one. She resides on Skellige and is adamant she won't sleep with a man unless he can beat her in single combat. The quest Iron Maiden requests Geralt do exactly that, with the reward for beating her being a chance for Geralt to be her first partner.

The Witcher: 8 Things We Want To See In The Netflix Series
Fans of The Witcher anxiously await the debut of the television series on Netflix. Here are eight things that should make it into the show.

It's a pretty engaging if somewhat simple story, so players who really want to do this should definitely go for it. It'll get them some combat practice and also allow Geralt to interact with one of the more unique residents of Skellige... and a pretty feisty one at that.

5 Keira Metz

The Witcher 3 Keira

Keira Metz is one of the early romances Geralt will come across in the game and although it's entirely optional, this sorceress' quest is fun to play out. At the very end, players can choose to romance her as well. As she's an interesting character who seems a little more present in Geralt's story than random workers in brothels, this is probably a more worthwhile romance option to pursue if players aren't deadset on being loyal to one of the main ladies.

Of course, Keira does lose points for betraying Geralt — or at least keeping him out of the loop — right off the bat after this encounter. The responses that players take after uncovering her actions can dictate her fate, so players who still like this character after her less-than-trustworthy actions should be wary of these consequences. Despite her manipulation, it's understandable why Keira wanted to pursue the life of opulence once again... but players can reason with her and convince the mage to help them out in the Battle of Kaer Morhen.

4 Shani

The Witcher 3 Shani

Shani ranks highly simply because romancing her is fun, which can't be said for some of the more intense romances. We meet Shani in Hearts of Stone and attend a wedding with her. Geralt's goal is to cheer her up and if players can achieve this, she says, "You've got me." Intimate scene unlocked. Voila.

Shani is definitely one of the more adorable romance options and she actually seems to mean something to Geralt — at least, he seems to feel some affection for her beyond handing crowns over to someone for some relations. As Shani is so cute and she and Geralt have some chemistry, she ranks pretty highly on this list.

The fact that she was romanceable in the first Witcher game as well makes this interaction quite nostalgic as well. Players who have been with Geralt from the very first game will definitely enjoy interacting with this great character from Hearts of Stone.

3 Syanna, AKA Sylvia Anna

The Witcher 3 Syanna

Syanna is one of the most interesting characters Geralt has the chance to romance. We meet her in Blood and Wine and she's quickly revealed as a villain by circumstance, a complicated character with many shades of grey to her personality. She's been treated terribly and done some terrible things in response, and she warms up to Geralt quickly if he's willing to show a little empathy towards her.

Her scene with Geralt, if the player pursues it, is one of the most bizarre. They have relations in the Fablesphere, floating through the clouds around a beanstalk... and it's pretty graphic as they do so. It's worth it to pursue this romance for the scene alone, even if players don't particularly like Syanna as a character.

And don't worry — if players reject her, she takes it pretty graciously despite being a villain of the expansion. Of course, most people won't dare reject her since the scene that follows is a must-watch in its own way!

2 Triss Merigold

The Witcher 3 Triss

Triss and Geralt have a lot of history, and she's one of his main options. If players choose to pursue a romance with her and only her as opposed to chasing Yen too, she'll be there for him at the very end of the game, and they'll settle down together.

The Witcher 3: The 22 Most Important Choices You’ll Have To Make In The Game
The Witcher 3 is full of incredibly important choices that impact the game's world. Here are a few of the most vital.

Of course, people have strong feelings for Triss. In the past, she's taken advantage of Geralt's amnesia and though she seems to be a good person at heart, she's made some seriously questionable choices based on her own selfishness. She does seem to love Geralt though and has a strong fanbase that supports his relationship with her far more than they do Yen.

The fact that Triss is not all that prominent in the books, as opposed to her video game counterpart, certainly makes her second-best when compared to Yennefer. However, fans of the games will remember that she's been with Geralt from the very start, and the fact that they share some great chemistry isn't missed either.

1 Yennefer Of Vengerberg

The Witcher 3 Yennefer

Yennefer and Geralt seem to be tied together. Even when they break the magical spellbinding them, they're still in love — or, are they? Actually, Geralt can choose to leave Yennefer at that point. But why would anyone do that?

Strong, independent, and powerful... Yennefer is the most powerful sorceress in the world, and if Geralt chooses her and only her, she'll be there for him at the end too. How could Yennefer not come first on this list, given their shared history?

But players should be careful — as stated above, if players attempt to romance both Yen and Triss, Yen will abandon Geralt for good. Of course, it's impossible to blame her for this, since the raven-haired sorceress has some pride, which just makes her an even greater character. Overall, the fanbase's love for Yennefer and the intricacies of her story with Geralt make her the best romance option available.
