For many gamers, it goes without saying that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of 2015's strongest candidates for game of the year. Not only have the fine developers over at CD Projekt Red made sure that the main content for Geralt of Rivia's final bow would result in innumerable hours of questing and monster-slaying, but they have also gone above and beyond for fans by providing the community with boatloads of free DLC for the action-RPG.

Additionally, should some players have already exhausted all of the core gameplay and gratis missions that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has to offer, those gamers should be delighted to know that CD Projekt Red will be soon be offering fans a couple of paid expansions in the near future. In fact, in an interview with the European video game publication GameReactor, Witcher 3's director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz explains that the two upcoming add-ons will cumulatively provide up to 30 hours of fresh content for the fantasy title.

Plus, what's even more interesting about the content is that the developer makes it known that the both of forthcoming DLC packs combined are "almost the size" of 2011's The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. Regarding what kind of gameplay fans can expect from the new expansions, Tomaszkiewicz says, "The expansion packs will be whole new storylines with all the elements you've got in the main story (like cutscenes, new characters, new items, new Gwent cards) and many, many more."

Aside from Tomaszkiewicz's explanation, the only concrete details we know about the two paid add-ons are their names, along with cryptic synopses of the stories' plots. The first package to be made available is known as "Hearts of Stone", and it will release later this October. "Hearts of Stone" is a 10-hour adventure that sends Geralt into No Man's Land where he'll complete a contract for the mysterious Man of Glass. The second DLC bundle is "Blood and Wine", which goes on sale in 2016, and it introduces 20 hours of action in Toussaint, a land of indulgence and ceremonial knighthood with a dangerous secret lurking right beneath the surface.

While each of the bonus narratives have a substantial amount of gameplay between them, it's quite possible that they could grow to be come even more sizable. In reference to the issue, Tomaszkiewicz says:

"It's possible that they will be bigger, because it's always like this (that when we plan some time or hours, it's twice or something like this), but I'm not promising anything right now. And even now, if you sum up this 10 to 20 hours and you compare it to The Witcher 2, it's almost the size of The Witcher 2. And it will be cool; it will be new stories, it will be very emotional stories and I think that people will be happy."

Although gamers can't experience "Hearts of Stone" and "Blood and Wine" for the time being, it is worth noting that the expansions can be purchased together for the tidy sum of $25. Regardless, fans of Witcher 3 are probably still busy with all of the free content CD Projekt Red has been throwing at them lately, such as the quest "Where the Cat and Wolf Play". With the Poland-based developer giving Witcher 3 players so much quality content at such a rapid rate, it's no wonder that the title has been receiving such great reviews.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
