The Witcher 2 Facebook Conference

Remember back during E3 2011 when CD Projekt RED announced The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings would be coming to Xbox 360? The official release date must be arriving soon because the game's developers have announced that they will be hosting a conference at the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw, and broadcasting it via Facebook.

The live stream of the conference will be taking place on January 26 at 7pm GMT, and is available to watch via The Witcher 2's official Facebook page. Details expected to be covered include the game's release date, the new features that will be coming to the Xbox 360 adaptation (not port), a new trailer, and a discussion of The Witcher brand.

Our own review of The Witcher 2 on PC marked it as one of the most refreshing and epic RPGs in ages, and the Xbox 360 version will finally bring the acclaimed game to console players. Hopefully, it will be successful enough to warrant even more console games set in The Witcher universe. The PC edition of The Witcher 2 received a major update last year, and perhaps some of the new features it included might find their way into the Xbox 360 version of the title.

Originally based on the novels written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher saga follows the story of Geralt of Rivia, a "Witcher." That is to say, an individual specially trained in the arts of magic and martial prowess to eliminate dangerous monsters. It may sound rather bland on the face of it, but the novels are actually quite good and were enough inspiration for CD Projekt to create not one, but two games set in the world.

The novels are worth reading and, should the opportunity arise, the PC games are worth playing, as well. Knowing that CD Projekt RED is approaching The Witcher 2 console adaptation with care, and not just reckless abandon aimed at snatching a quick dollar, is excellent.

Are you looking forward to the Xbox 360 version of The Witcher 2?

The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings is available now on PC and is coming soon to Xbox 360.
