Adaptations of popular fantasy and sci-fi stories are usual. The most famous example, other than Harry Potter games and various The Lord of the Rings games, remains The Witcher series, especially its third game. However, there are plenty more fantasy sagas that would deserve their own game adaptations but haven't gotten it just yet, and it's unclear if they ever will.

Thanks to the large variety of fantasy series that came out over the years, each reader would no doubt find a saga they would like to see transformed into a game. From huge franchises with their own fantasy world to stories taking place in well-known locations, some fantasy series would make for a potentially amazing game.

8 The Way Of The Shaman

The series The Way of the Shaman would have an easier way of transforming to a game since it's already a litRPG. The main hero ends up in prison and as his punishment, he's imprisoned in the world of a fantasy game.

On his journey, he quickly builds up a formidable reputation but also meets many enemies. The books are action-filled and would make for a compelling game since they already have all the elements players love - a strong protagonist, many beasts to defeat, and an open world.

7 The Dark Herbalist (Michael Atamanov)

world of warcraft goblin note

Another litRPG that wouldn't be remiss as a computer game has the player playing the game voluntarily. In the series The Dark Herbalist, the main hero works as a plotline game tester for an influential company. As a result, he gets to play a goblin vampire herbalist in a beautiful fantasy world.

Despite having to hide his vampirism from the other players, he quickly moves forward in the ranks and levels up fast but it once again doesn't go without difficulties. If the players got to choose from the large myriad of races present in the books, the game would be captivating to play.

6 The Forbidden Game

The Forbidden Game series

L. J. Smith's work is well known on the TV screen thanks to adaptations such as The Vampire Diaries or The Secret Circle. However, this particular series would also make for quite a scary horror game.

The first book takes place in a frightening house that has the ability to change, portray the characters' biggest nightmares and hurt them if they're not careful enough. The heroes then have to find their way out of the house before the morning comes. This would make for a compelling story with the clock ticking and many challenges lurking in the house's shadows.

5 Rivers Of London

London has a lot of charm and it can be quite exotic for American visitors. In the book series, the main hero Peter Grant is gradually solving various criminal cases, most of them of magical origin.

His investigation leads him to multiple parts of London as well as some other locations in the country so the game could make for a potentially fascinating open-world RPG. Plus, the series has a lot of interesting supporting characters the player could play with, other than Peter himself.

4 Throne of Glass

Throne of Glass series

To make each book from the series into a game would be no easy task considering how long they are. However, just like Rivers of London, this fantasy series has the characters travel a lot.

That would give the player the unique chance to explore the fictional fantasy world the author has created. What's more, it has multiple species, some with special powers (such as healing, magic, or flying) whose skin the player could embody in the game.

3 Grimnoir Chronicles

Grimnoir Chronicles

Superhero games are nothing new but they mostly derive from DC or Marvel. Transforming this series into a computer game would offer a brand new view of the superhero genre. For one, the story takes place in the 1930s and not all of its heroes are superheroes despite having special powers.

The series doesn't lack a lot of action scenes that would make for impressive fight sequences in the potential game adaptation. Plus, it offers a lot of characters, both main and supporting, each with a different special power. Their abilities would be fascinating to discover while playing the game.

2 Zom-B

the day before

Darren Shan is best known for his writing work for younger readers, but the Zom-B series also works for the adult audience. Mostly because it doesn't spare its heroes and doesn't shy away from morbid scenes. Each of the books takes place somewhere else but none of them lacks a lot of tension-filled scenes.

Zombie games are popular, so the game would have a large potential to succeed. It would also be different to play for a heroine who's less than sympathetic in the beginning. When the story starts, the main heroine, a girl called B, is a racist and she only becomes more approachable over time.

1 Wheel Of Time

Wheel Of Time Netflix Series

With the upcoming Amazon TV adaptation and as one of the greatest fantasy sagas of all time, Wheel of Time would make for an excellent fantasy game. It could very well follow in the line of The Witcher and create a compelling open world the players would spend hundreds of hours exploring while completing both main quests and side missions.

Once again, the world is populated by people (and other creatures) who can do extraordinary things so the player would get to try out something they can never do in real life.
