With just over a week before the launch of The Walking Dead: Michonne, Telltale Games reveals a six-minute extended preview of its upcoming three-episode mini-series.

After taking a break to work on Game of Thrones, Tales from the Borderlands, and Minecraft: Story Mode, Telltale Games' much anticipated return to The Walking Dead universe with The Walking Dead: Michonne is just a little over a week away. To drum up some last minute hype for fans, Telltale has revealed a new six-minute extended preview of their upcoming game.

Set during Michonne's absence between issues 126 and 139 of the comic series, the extended look at The Walking Dead: Michonne offers up plenty of zombies, some of Telltale's usual button-mashing quick-time events, and, most intriguingly, flashbacks to Michonne's previous life. It appears that the game will utilise a flashback narrative device to explore Michonne's life before and after the zombie apocalypse. Considering that Michonne is one of the most interesting people in The Walking Dead canon, the chance to dig deeper into her character and backstory is most definitely welcome.

For fans looking to get their Walking Dead fix, the preview is definitely something worth checking out and can be seen below:

The flashbacks and brief story teases in this extended preview have only made The Walking Dead: Michonne mini-series all the more intriguing. Not only will the mini-series cover the story behind Michonne's 13-issue absence in the comics, but it looks like Telltale is bringing some of its critically-acclaimed character development and storytelling to the table. Given that The Walking Dead: Michonne will only have three episodes, and how The Walking Dead: Season 2 was considered good but not great, this is an opportunity for Telltale to regain some of its momentum by telling a shorter, but more focused story.

With The Walking Dead: Michonne being the first Walking Dead game to not feature Clementine as one of the protagonists, the focus on Michonne's journey will serve as an interesting parallel experience to Clementine's own journey. As gamers witnessed Clementine being forced to grow into a strong-willed young woman over the course of two seasons, it will be intriguing to see how Michonne became the fierce, independent, and decisive character that fans know and love in just three-episodes.

While gamers will have to wait before Clementine returns in The Walking Dead: Season 3, journeying through Telltale's zombie-filled post-apocalyptic world as Michonne is proving to be a more than welcome alternative.

The Walking Dead: Michonne - Episode 1: In Too Deep will be released on February 23 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. A February 25 release is scheduled for Android and iOS mobile devices.
