Heavy spoilers ahead, consider yourself warned! The Umbrella Academy is infamous for its epic, mind-blowing cliffhangers, and Season 3 is no exception. After entering the Hotel Oblivion's mirror verse and defeating four colossal Guardians, the Hargreeves find themselves in some kind of machine, where they have inadvertently become the battery source. Some heads get bashed in before Allison pushes an ominous red button on the universe-manipulating apparatus, subsequently resetting the timeline in the process.

Following the trend that occurs when messing with time, the Hargreeves and co. get separated as the Universe is supposedly reset, and Allison conveniently appears to have a perfect life. Luther is back from the dead (and possibly Ben too), but The Umbrella Academy find themselves powerless for the first time in their lives.

7 Was Future Five's Warning Heeded?

The Umbrella Academy Season 3 Five's Warning

Future Five explicitly told himself to not save the world, and seeing that present Five miraculously has his arm back, does this mean he fulfilled his own wishes? It is unlikely that Future Five's statement translated to "don't do anything at all", as that would be an impossible request to make of his younger self. It seems that whatever Five would have done to attempt to save the Universe would have backfired terribly, but has that been avoided, or have the group fulfilled their tragic destiny anyway? Was Five supposed to stay uninvolved, with Allison taking his place on the sigil in the final moments against the final Guardian?

The fact that Five's severed arm has miraculously healed indicates that some drastic changes have been made, and Five may not end up dependent on an Iron Lung-type machine to survive. But is living in a world run by the sadistic Reggie the happy ending they were all looking for? Unlikely!

6 What's Up With Alison?

The Umbrella Academy Unanswered Questions Allison, Clar and Ray Chestnut

Viewers are not given insights into the specificities of Allison and Sir Reginald's suspicion deal made during the wedding celebrations, but after seeing the result, it is no wonder the #3 Umbrella was willing to betray her entire family for such a miraculous reward. Somehow, in this new Universe that Reggie has supposedly created, not only does Allison have her daughter Claire back in her arms, but amazingly Ray is alive and well, in their home, in the same timeline.

The obvious conundrum is how on Earth is it even possible for Ray and Claire to be in the same room together, apparently well aware of who each other are. It seems that Reggie could recreate a world with no logical limitations when it comes to maintaining the timeline because, well, the previous reality in all likelihood now ceases to exist, thanks to the Kugelblitz. Secondly, Ray enters the room, late at night, but the trio is in Patrick's (former) home, so what happened to Claire's father? Does Patrick exist in this timeline, is he still biologically connected to Claire, and why is Ray apparently living in his home? Many attentive fans are also wondering about the squirrel decal in the house, and if this is a significant Easter egg (think, Raymond Chestnut) or not.

5 Is Sloane Dead?

The Umbrella Academy Unanswered Questions Season 3 Sloane dead or alive

After Allison pushes the menacing red button in the Oblivion Machine, the group is all transported to a new world, but only seven emerge from the elevator. The original Hargreeves siblings are all accounted for, with Sparrows Ben and Lila included, but Sloane (and Allison) is ominously missing. Viewers already know that the #3 Umbrella is living her best life, but what happened to Sloane?

Enraged by losing her husband, Sloane goes all out in the battles against the Guardians in the Oblivion mirror verse, seemingly unconcerned with her own safety for the sake of vengeance. She sustained injuries while fighting alongside Ben and Five, is pushed to the limit when battling the final boss, and sustains further damage when her body was used as a battery to fuel the Machine. This was possibly all too much for Sloane's body to handle, leaving nothing much for Reggie to work with. However, if Luther could be brought back to life, then a fatally wounded Sloane surely could too?

Like Allison, Sloane could be alive and well and has merely been transported to the new timeline separately. This theory opens up a whole other can of worms, because could Sloane's separate treatment indicate that she too was working with Sir Reginald all along? Reggie did proudly declare that he was the one to unite the two families, but the wedding achieved the (almost) friendship, so did the world's worst dad orchestrate their union too?

4 Can Five Age Now?

The Umbrella Academy Unanswered Questions Season 3 Five Hargreeves

Five is trapped in his hormonal teenager body due to a miscalculation in his time jump when attempting to return to 2019 (the decimal was in the wrong place, such a silly mistake!) He is the first to realize that the Hargreeves are without powers in Reggie's new timeline, which begs to question, does this impact his ability to age, or has the damage already been done?

When Five finds his future self in Season 3 episode 4, it is clear that the dying man is no longer a boy, but an elderly man. This indicated that somewhere along the line, Five is (...or will be?) able to cure his agelessness and live a long, probably unhappy life. However, that old man also only had one arm, so fans cannot definitely say that Five is on the right track to adulthood unless he plans on losing a limb again.

3 Why Did They Lose Their Powers?

The Umbrella Academy Unanswered Questions No Powers Hargreeves Marigold Particles

Probably one of the biggest plot twists at the end of Season 3 is the fact that the surviving seven emerged from time-traveling elevators possessing no superhuman abilities and are now apparently like any other average Joe. It is unclear whether Allison is also affected by this power wipe (or any of the other beings born on the 12th hour of the 1st day of October), or if this normalcy is permanent, but some of the Hargreeves are clearly more relieved by this altercation than others.

It is possible that the Marigold particles that were absorbed by the unlucky seven by the Oblivion Machine removed their supernatural capabilities. Alternatively, Reggie could have a more direct hand behind this turn of events, unwilling to let his children interfere with the greater scheme of things again. Many fans are worried about what this could mean for Season 4 of The Umbrella Academy, as their favorite characters are mere shells of themselves in this absurdly normal form. Will the group be able to alter the timeline once again (no way Reggie's world is a pleasant place!) or will the Hargreeves be bystanders for once?

2 Who Is Abigail Hargreeves?

The Umbrella Academy Unanswered Questions Season 3 Abigail Hargreeves

Fans catch a glimpse of the mysterious Abigail Hargreeves in Season 3 episode 9 and are finally able to connect the dots regarding Luther's random mission to the moon. During a heated discussion, Reggie reveals that he sent his #1 Umbrella to waste 1000 days of his life in order to protect the precious package, completely unaware of Abigail's existence within her tomb-like structure on the Moon.

Abigail makes a comeback in the closing scene of Season 3 episode 10 after the Hargreeves are transported to an unknown timeline in a world that appears to be dominated by Sir Reginald and his lovely lady. The pair are seen gloating over their kingdom as a sinister couple, suggesting that Abigail is Reggie's alien wife who is thrilled to be reunited with her love once more. Some may remember that Abigail had died in one of the previous timelines (shown in Season 1), but it seems that The Umbrella Academy's intervention has finally completed Reggie's lovestruck mission.

1 Is Ghost Ben Alive?

The Umbrella Academy Unanswered Questions Season 3 Ben Hargreeves post credit scene

Those with enough patience to sit through the final credits of Season 3 witnessed a miracle in the making, or so it seems. Fans had just watched the Sparrows Ben storm off from the rest of the group (in America, at the old Hotel Oblivion's location), but then is suddenly seen again aboard a Japanese train. Upon closer inspection, The Sparrow Ben's tell-tale scar is missing, which means this is a different, unfamiliar Ben entirely. Season 3 episode 1 starts off with a scene on a South Korean train whereby a young girl is suddenly impregnated and gives birth within a matter of minutes, and it appears the season ends on that same train, possibly with that girl's offspring being the subject of this debate.

The big question? Has the Umbrella's Ben come back to life as Luther did, or is this a different individual altogether? And what could this mean for the potential of paradox psychosis? Light can be seen filtering in through the train widows conveniently haloes Ben and is of a similar orange hue to the Marigold particles that Reggie drained from his children to fuel his Oblivion machine. Does this indicate that this Ben has access to his powers? Moreover, is he working independently or as an agent for Sir Reginald in The Umbrella Academy?
