Bella Goth is one of the most loved pre-made sims in The Sims franchise. She appears in many different versions of the game, including spin-offs. Always recognizable and fun to play, Bella is a huge part of sims history.

Over time she’s had an eventful life, to say the least. While she’s currently settled and happy with her family in Willow Creek, it hasn’t always been this way.

While some things have remained constant, such as Bella’s love for the gothic style, many others have changed. From alternative realities to alien abductions, here are 10 things you didn’t know about Bella Goth.

via megamaxissims.blogspot.com

In The Sims 3 we are introduced to Bella as a child. She lives in Sunset Valley with her mother, Jocasta Bachelor, her father, Simis Bachelor, and her older brother, Michael Bachelor. She has a good relationship with her family and still wears her trademark red dress, since red is her favorite color.

She is a B grade student at school and is lucky, brave and good. She’s described as the best-dressed girl you’ll ever meet, who loves to talk to people.

9 9. She Isn’t Always A Goth

In different language versions of the game the surname of Goth changes, sometimes along with Bella's first name. While some countries, such as Norway, just translate the word goth, others don’t.

In the German version of The Sims she is known as Julia Von Spinnweb, which means cobweb, but this was changed to Grusel, which translates as scary, in The Sims 2. In Spain she is Elvira Lápida, which translates as gravestone, while the Dutch version of her name is Kerkhof, which means graveyard.

In The Sims Mobile, when you first begin the game, Bella Goth will show up to help you settle into your new home. She is the helpful tutorial sim who guides you through the process of learning how the game works.

The first few quests involve her helping you to become part of the new neighborhood. You can also build a relationship with her which will enable you to interact with, call and socialize with her as you progress through the game.

It is said that she never really loved Mortimer. She married him for his money and stayed for the free cable. It was also suggested that she knows Kung Fu, he’s a great guy who does her gardening. These secrets are not reflected in other Sims games.

via justsimsthings.wordpress.com

The version of Bella we see in The Sims 4 is an alternate reality version of the Goth family. It consists of Mortimer, Bella, Cassandra, and Alexander. They are entirely separate from the very complex storylines of the earlier games.

Despite the storyline differences, the core of Bella and her family remains the same. They are still very wealthy and still live in a gothic-themed house. Despite their fortune, they have minimal electronics, which has always been the case.

She was supposed to show up in The Sims 2 as a townie but due to a programming glitch it didn’t happen and she appears only in the Pleasantview game code. She was later added back in by the team and could be found in Strangetown with no memory of her past.

4 4. She Begins A New Life In The Sims Social

The Sims Social was a Facebook game which told unique sims stories. In this game, Bella had reappeared in Littlehaven, after the events of The Sims 2. She had no memory of what happened to her and set out on a quest to discover her past.

While she spends a large amount of time hunting for answers she never finds them and eventually settles down in Littlehaven, making a new life for herself.

She still looks recognizable as Bella and players could become friends with her but could not become her best friend, nor could they fall in love with her.

She begins life in The Sims with black hair and a fit physique. In the console version of the game, her hair is brown and her physique is changed to thin. Her eyes also change color from hazel to brown. This version is the same as the one from The Sims Bustin’ Out. Bella appears different again in The Sims Mobile, even losing her red dress.

2 2. She’s Rumored To Appear When You Hang Her Portrait

via reddit.com

In The Sims 2, there is a portrait of Bella Goth, called Bella squared. There is a rumor that if you have a sim who lives in Strangetown and they hang the portrait up, then Bella will come and visit.

This is unsubstantiated but not at all impossible, especially since the Tragic Clown does the same thing. It also makes sense that since she’s hunting for clues about her past then she may assume you know something about her if you have her picture on your wall.

1 1. Books Have Been Written About Her

via thegamer.com

In The Sims 3, there are 2 different books which may refer to Bella. The first is called Where’s Bella? and is said to be a reference to both her abduction and the Where’s Waldo books.

There is also a book called Murder In Pleasantville which is written by Alexander Goth. While this may seem like an obvious reference to Alexander Goth, Bella’s son, writing about her disappearance, The Sims 3 is set when Bella is still a child so this seems unlikely. It’s still curious though, just like a large amount of Bella’s life.
