Since the first sequel to 2000s The Sims, each title in the franchise has received updates to fix weird bugs, and that's no different with The Sims 4. Several big bugs plaguing The Sims 4 have been brought up by the community and a few persisting ones have been fixed by developers at EA.

The Sims has confirmed that numerous bugs were fixed in update 1.90, including ones that resulted in drastic age fluctuations for some Sims and another that caused questionable romance options. Bugs have impacted multiple titles and expansions in the series and some base game and expansion issues have been addressed with the August patch. Although players may continue to stumble across unaddressed bugs moving forward, especially in one of the various The Sims 4 game packs, a few of the prominent problems won't continue to plague players.

The important bug fixes for The Sims 4 in update 1.90 are “Ask to be Girlfriend/Boyfriend” will now target appropriate Sims, adult Sims no longer flirtatiously tag teens in Social Bunny posts, and Sims with shorter or longer Lifespans won't suddenly become younger or age when leaving the Create a Sim menu. Opening travel up to more Sims in the August update, The Sims 4 now allows all available Sims to travel whether they're on the current lot or not. The Sims 4 fans using the base version of the game won't see many changes beyond these in the patch but Get Famous and High School Years expansion players will see additional improvements to the game.

The Sims 4 Get Famous expansion adds a fame meter to various Sims, and due to the new changes, there will no longer be a bug that occasionally shows a Sim without fame having a level of it. The High School Years expansion for The Sims 4 has a pile of clutter known as the "I was a Teenage Garbage Artist" that has limited the movements of various Sims in the past, but the recent update opens it up and lets Sims walk through freely. The Sims Team announcement of the August update alterations also thanked members of the community for feedback that allowed the team to find and tweak things accordingly.

Although many fans have responded to EA with enthusiasm, others have brought up further bugs that hinder their gaming experience, such as a problematic UI that can be hidden through The Sims 4 menu, error codes from failing to launch the game, and sudden choppiness caused by the game pausing and resuming independently of a player's input. It's currently unclear if any new issues being reported by The Sims 4 fans are the result of changes in update 1.90 or things that existed already but are just being discovered.

The Sims 4 is available now for Mac, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
