Playing The Sims 4 is a ton of fun. It only becomes more and more fun with each Expansion Pack, Game Pack, and Stuff Pack that's added to the game. Most recently, Discover University was added and gave our Sims the ability to seek higher education and go to one of two different universities after they become a young adult! Term papers, student loans, and eating junk food like pizza rolls in their dorm room was added and is so much fun.

But, after a Sim graduates from university, they need to find a career and get out into the real world. Each university has their own organizations, degrees, and distinguished degrees. This means that the university a Sim chooses to attend can really impact their future career! To see the best career for a Sim, based on the university they attended, keep reading!

Updated November 4th, 2022, by Rain Egan: Picking the right career for a Sim can be a tough decision, especially with all the choices the newer expansion packs have added. It only seems right that after studying for so long, a Sim should have a career that lines up with their newly-earned degree.

Three years on from Discover University's release, players have a greater sense of which University degrees line up with which careers. There are also significantly more careers to choose from with the game's increasing number of expansion and game packs. With that in mind, this list has been refreshed to include four new options for Simmers.

19 Britechester: Simfluencer

While this degree offers no tangible reward for the Simfluencer career, players that are interested in telling a well-rounded story may want to consider sending their Sims to Britechester to study Communications before they settle down into their newfound role.

In real life, a Communications degree teaches many skills that an influencer would need, so it makes sense that it's The Sims 4 counterpart would do the same. The Simfluencer career is exclusive to the High School Years expansion, so it may be unfamiliar to some players.

18 Foxbury: Doctor

where is the hospital in sims 4

Sims hoping to become Doctors will benefit greatly from the Biology degree at Foxbury! Being the more tech-oriented University, it's no surprise that Foxbury is the University for Doctors, as the career requires a lot of machinery and modern tech.

With a standard Biology degree, Sims will receive a signing bonus and start at Level Six in their Doctor career and at Level Seven if they graduate with honors. Sims that complete a distinguished Biology degree, however, will start their career at Level Seven, and at Level Eight if they graduate with honors.

17 Britechester: Actor

Sims with stars in their eyes should look no further than the Drama degree from Britechester! As with the Biology degree, graduating from this course can give a Sim a serious advantage when starting their career as an actor, as well as landing them a significant signing bonus.

Acting is also one of the active The Sims 4: Get Famous careers, meaning the player can choose to accompany their Sim to auditions and gigs. Recommended skills are Acting and Charisma, which Sims are sure to master during their University years.

16 Foxbury: Bodybuilder

For gym rat Sims, there isn't a specific Athletics degree, but the Biology degree will fast-track any athlete's career. Specifically, completing the Biology degree will allow a Sim to start the Bodybuilder career at Level Six, Seven, or Eight depending on their GPA and distinguished degree status.

The Bodybuilder career starts at $47/hour, and through career progression, a Sim could be looking at $500/hour at max level. Considering that this is more than Doctors make at max level in The Sims 4, this career path is certainly worth considering.

15 Britechester: Business Manager

Sims 4 Man In Suit

Britechester is a modern, beautiful campus that resembles new and innovative schools in North America. It makes sense that a student from Britechester would pursue a corporate career as a manager of a business. After all, the campus has the feel of a top college for aspiring professionals.

Although, it is not quite as pretentious as the Ivy League school of The Sims 4. Managers get paid a ton of money and are usually viewed in a positive light by the community. For those that prefer Britechester, being a Business Manager is a smart choice.

14 Foxbury: Villain Secret Agent

Sims 4 Villain

Although the gothic theme of the Foxbury campus reminds us of acclaimed colleges around the world, evil people can be geniuses too. Instead of using stealth and deception for good, gamers should opt to go the evil route.

The intelligent, calculating students of Foxbury fit the mold of a criminal mastermind. As a villain spy, Sims receive one of the highest hourly rates in the game. Crime really does pay for those that don't mind blurring the lines of legality.

13 Britechester: Stylist

Sims 4 Stylist

Surprisingly, Stylists rake in a ridiculously high hourly wage. While it may not be the right profession for everyone, being a Stylist is fun for those that are into beauty and fashion. Students from Britechester seem to possess the necessary character traits to be post graduate stylists.

Both of the universities offer programs for doctoral studies, but it is hard to imagine a Stylist going to Foxbury. Giving other Sims a makeover has never been so rewarding.

12 Foxbury: Interstellar Smuggler

Sims 4 Interstellar Smuggler

Again, for some reason Foxbury students seem to match the villain role better. Interstellar Smugglers are of course exceptionally smart people for having mastered the art of space travel. They are also not inherently bad. Take Han Solo for example.

These Foxbury students are astronomically good hustlers. Gamers that do not mind getting their hands dirty will be able to afford whatever they want as an Interstellar Smuggler in Sims 4.

11 Britechester: Space Ranger

On the opposite end o the spectrum, Britechester students will make great astronauts. Sims from Britechester are smart, but even more courageous and outgoing. Those that attended Britechester will be able to make a stable career out of exploring space.

It may not pay as well as being a bad guy, but it will be just as interesting. Players that love space should choose this career if they are dead set on attending Britechester, as it is one of the coolest jobs to have in the game.

10 Foxbury: Scientist

Sims 4 Scientist

Foxbury is one of the two universities that Sims can choose for their time as a student. Foxbury is the newer of the two choices and is definitely a lot more modern than its counterpart.

If a Sim is seriously into science, and they want to go into that career path, the player should build up their skills before they're sent away to Foxbury. Foxbury has Physics as one of their distinguished degree options, so they'll want to build their logic and other relevant skills before they apply so that they can take on the program and get that sweet bonus when they start their life in the science career.

9 Britechester: Style Influencer

Sims 4 DJ

Although there are a lot of things that players can do in The Sims and in real life, there are also a lot of fun things that most players simply can't do in real life. Although it would be awesome, most Simmers aren't going to become social media influencers in real life. But who said a Sim can't be?

Britechester University is the older, more historic university in The Sims 4 and has a distinguished degree program that is perfect for any Sim that wants to become a style influencer. With their writing and charisma skills, a Sim that graduates with a distinguished degree in Art History will be rolling in the social media likes.

8 Foxbury: Author

Sims 4 Author

Even though Britechester is definitely better known for their arts program than Foxbury is, Foxbury is a university that is known in the Sims world for being on the cutting edge of all things technology.

If a Sim chooses to attend Foxbury, they have a variety of different major options that they can choose from. Although a lot of the more arts-focused distinguished degrees come from Britechester, they can still major in something like Communications or Language and Literature from Foxbury, where it's not a distinguished degree, so a Sim doesn't need high skills beforehand, and go on to become an author.

7 Britechester: Food Critic

Sims 4 Food Critic

If a Sim is aiming for the critic career they're going to need quite a way with words. Being able to influence other Sims with the things they write and say is an art form. What university is better for learning the arts than Britechester?

The food critic career is one of the choices in the critic career that came with City Living. If a Sim is looking to taste all the finest restaurants in the various neighborhoods and tell everyone how good (or awful!) they are, getting a distinguished degree in Culinary Arts from Britechester is the way to go. Make sure their cooking skills are up to par before applying!

6 Foxbury: Conservationist

Sims 4 Conservationist

The conservationist career line is one that was introduced with The Sims 4: Island Living. If a Sim is one that loves to be on the island and really cares for the environment, then stepping into the conservationist career is perfect!

What university should they attend if they're looking to help clean up and care for the island? Foxbury! This university is the more modern, technologically advanced of the two and has a much stronger focus on the scientific majors. Economics is a distinguished major at Foxbury, perfect for the Environmental Manager career.

5 Britechester: Private Attorney

Sims 4 Private Attorney

The law career was added with The Sims 4: Discover University. Players looking to try something new after getting their hands on this expansion pack may be looking to try out this career. But, players will probably want to put their Sim in the proper major at university to give them a head start, right?

Britechester is definitely the best university to attend if a Sim is looking to get a head start in the law career. If a Sim is looking to pick the Private Attorney career path, they should definitely seek out a distinguished degree at Britechester in the Language and Literature program.

4 Foxbury: Professor

Sims 4 Teacher

Finally, the education career path has been added to The Sims 4! There are a lot of careers that fans of the series have been waiting for, and the developers have been adding new ones in with the release of different games and expansion packs. One of the latest is the education career with the release of Discover University.

Once a Sim reaches the top of the education career path, they can choose between Professor and Administrator. But, before they make the decision between these two career paths, they're going to want to get an education themselves. Getting a distinguished degree in Psychology is perfect if a Sim wants to become a Professor.

3 Britechester: Freelance Artist

Sims 4 Artist

City Living introduced some careers that allow Sims to work from home. Then, in a later update, Sims became able to do freelance work from home. How cool is that? For example, a freelance artist uses their tablet to draw and paint for a variety of different clients.

If a Sim has a talent for painting, players are likely already looking to send them to Britechester. This university is known for its focus on the arts, so it's no surprise that it would be the perfect school for a Sim that wants to graduate and become a freelance artist. A Sim that graduates with a distinguished degree in Art History or Fine Art would be perfect for the position.

2 Foxbury: Criminal

Sims 4 Criminal

If a player has got a Sim that is more into the darker side of life and doesn't necessarily want a regular career, they might be looking to have them join the criminal career path. What university would help a Sim to get ahead as a criminal?

Since Foxbury is so ahead of the game as far as technology goes, they're definitely the perfect university for a Sim that wants to get devious. Getting a distinguished degree in Villainy from Foxbury will definitely help a Sim get a head start as a Criminal Boss or a Villain.

1 Britechester: Politician

Sims 4 Politician

If a player has got a Sim that has a high charisma skill and really wants to do good in the world and influence people, they might be considering getting them into the political career track. But before they get started in the world of politics, graduating from university can really help them to get their career off to a good start.

If a Sim is looking into the political career, Britechester is definitely the university they should attend. Britechester has distinguished degrees in both Communication and History, either of which would really help a Sim to get ahead in the political career path early on.
