The Sims 4 players will be relieved to know that the bug that made Sims irrationally mean will be fixed in December. The problem first arose in early October when players noticed their Sims being cruel to others, which affected their relationships in the game.

Since being released in 2014, The Sims 4 still updates regularly to bring new in-game content and improve the overall quality of life of the game. But after the October 11 patch, Sims, even those with peaceful and friendly traits, were seemingly acting out and starting fights out of nowhere. According to players, this happened to Sims of all life stages, including NPCs.

In response, Electronic Arts (EA), via The Sims Direct Communications Twitter account, announced that it will fix the extra negativity happening in The Sims 4. Although the update was supposed to go live on November 18, the company announced that it would be delayed to early December. EA didn't provide further explanation for the delay, but the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday in the US might have something to do with it. Additionally, EA said it's continuously reviewing The Sims 4 Gallery to remove flagged content.

The Sims 4 players had mixed emotions regarding the upcoming update. While some were okay with the delay as long as it would fix the bug, many were frustrated at EA. It was noted that they hadn't played The Sims 4 since the bug surfaced and ruined their relationships. Some pointed out that it initially took EA weeks to acknowledge the bug, and now, it will take another few weeks before the fix goes live.

For those who were still playing their Sims 4 families, some found workarounds to avoid unwanted altercations in the game. One Sims YouTuber compiled solutions, such as giving Sims the new Loyal trait to hopefully reduce fights, and using mods to disable being autonomously mean. While the latter seems to have helped some Sims players, it's still best to patiently wait for the next The Sims 4 update.

Like other games in the franchise, The Sims 4 has had multiple issues come up from updates, from funny glitches where toddler's head turned into a mailbox, to bizarre male pregnancies. The advantage of The Sims 4 now being free to play is that more players could see and report issues, so EA could track them down. Hopefully, the upcoming Sims 5 won't have these problems too. For now, The Sims 4 players are encouraged to create a backup save while waiting for the fix.

The Sims 4 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
